Is it possible my friend is in Florida and his a/c went out and his boss said he would only fix it when he gets back to California he is on his way back .He says the apu shuts off when you start the engine is there any way around it?
Can you run the apu and engine at the same time.

Yes, there's a way around it - but , he should probably own the truck, or as others said , find another employer.
Dominick253 and drver60021 Thank this. -
i dont think there is a setting that allows you to do that. there may be a way to trick it but i dont know. my best advice would be to run at night and sleep during the day if possible. 2-65 ac works better at night
drver60021 Thanks this. -
Yes you can, there should be a wire that runs to the Alternator (at least it is on mine) and when you turn the switch it cuts the apu off. You can disconnect the wire and it won't send the signal to cut the apu off. You just would not need to try to leave the ac button off on the truck trying to go when you have the apu going.
I also had to run my apu once when my fan hub froze up. I had to cut my belt off to keep it from seizing up, but this is the same belt that runs my alternator, so I was 400 miles from the shop and just let my apu keep my batteries charged on the trip home.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I do not know why your telling him to find a new job. Lots of stories on here about people getting ripped off with repairs on the road. New driver besides that looks ripe for the picking. I think the boss made the right call, tough it out a few days till you get back. If for some reason it doesn't get fixed then it's a different story.
