Great perspective. I didn't even think about the stop and rob mechanics out there. I buy all my soda at home. Soda is way cheaper than A/C!
Can you run the apu and engine at the same time.

When I had an APU on my Crete truck, Thermoking specifically said that both engines could not be run at the same time. Both have water pumps, and one may get starved for coolant (APU's tie into the heater hoses, there is no guarantee that the output of the engine is the input of the APU, the APU may be trying to pull coolant from the same line that the engine is, and the engine will win). However, my last company had dynasys APU's, and drivers ran both reguarly. As for tampering with wiring so they both run at the same time...that might get him fired. If his APU can't keep up so he can sleep in the day, he should get an advance for a motel, then sleep in the day, drive at night. My employer that had the dynasys systems wouldn't fix a/c's on the road, and not all trucks had APU's, so they would put a driver in motels until they got back to the company shop.

(My AC is currently acting you too... And I am heading into Florida.... Ugh) -
I installed a switch on the wire coming from truck ignition to APU to let me open windows or turn keys to ACC when APU is running without shutting it off . Also installed by pass switch for voltage sensor so i can start APU in any mode when i want to use microwave (it will only start for AC or low voltage). Bypassing ignition you only need to disconnect a wire on circuit board marked IGN. if i remember correctly it's second wire fro the top on right.

I'm not sure if it safe to run apu and motor at the same time.

Is it really that unreasonable to roll the windows down and roll down the highway? I know it's hot down there but really?
If it was an issue of no AC at all and couldn't sleep I'd understand.
But I've ran plenty of equipment with no AC In some god awful heat, if you can get air flow it's not unbearablesliver Thanks this. -
