The equipment isn't that bad as far as looks and comfortability go. The problem with the equipment is they break down to often. If you came here I would be shocked if you didn't get a 2012+ tractor.
It's luck of the draw really, I have a 2012 maxxforce with 450k miles. Yes I've broke down a few times, yes I still made 60k for the year with dealing with those break downs. Its been almost a year or more since my last break down but every time I get a service I jump in a loaner and go home. I don't even wait to see if they don't find anything wrong unless I don't have a load.
In my opinion the positives here outweigh the bad by far. I'm also from Florida and I haven't found a better otr company that hires from that state.
Paper logs, hub miles, idle 24/7 and not ever having to talk to a dispatcher/supervisor are why I like it here.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Loanerdude and 4mer trucker Thank this.

I have a 2012 and been down 3 times so far this year, 2 roadside
breakdowns and 1 extended stay at a motel while the tractor was
in the shop . I have been on the list for an upgrade to a newer truck
for well over year and have not been offered a newer truck.
I have a diesel APU , but it has not worked more than a few hours
before it konks out . I just idle the truck and they never say anything about it.
Good Luck -
My last outing I stayed out a little longer than normal april 28th to June 1st. I did 1800 miles in 3 days back to gp, turned in 3k for the trip.
Took a load to Windsor CT, turned in 3723 miles in 9 days with 2 days layover pay. I needed a 34 as well so it worked oUT ok.
Next load went to Rochester NY. I broke down 12 miles from delivery on a Sunday when load was due. A/c compressor bolt broke off and belt came off. Truck was fixed and ready by Monday 1500 so I just stayed on my backhaul. Trip ended up being 8 days 3650 miles.
Next trip was a 6 dropper ending in hopeMills NC. Turned in 2700 miles with 6 paid drops in 7 days. Turned that in on a Friday and load home wasn't ready till Sunday .
Did a quick run to new Braunfels then pole tex back to gp instead of just sitting till Sunday. Truck lost power and just wasn't running right on the way back to gp. Managed to get it back to gp and into a loaner for my home load to west Palm Beach.
With the way I came off my last home time, I managed to get all those loads turned in by payroll cut off. Have been at the house since last Tuesday probably getting a backhaul Wednesday or Thursday. Same old crap for me at poly, To easy. -

Orientation over, awaiting flight home. New orientation instructor, Bill, was a cool dude, former driver. Wasn't sure the layout of my assigned truck in Henderson but checked out one of the neighboring numbered trucks and it has two bunks and a dynasys which is fine with me.

So my Sunday load was 8 or so hours late coming out, headed to Minersville Pa 1500 miles.
Delivered this morning no problems, waiting for backhaul. I just calledbackhaul and they actually picked up on the first ring, said they are working on something but no info. We will see.28 Thanks this. -
I did good for over 2 years on back hauls but recently it's been very slow getting back to GP .
Hopefully things will turn around soon -
Three drivers that recently quit, 1 from Florida went to work for Davis express out of starke. Noway they are better than polly. The other from Dothan AL went to Barr Nun, noway they are better but from my research some talk OK about it. The 3rd went to a small 15-20 truck operation out of Gainesville GA that pays salary plus some other things.
I would have to see alot more of a change to be willing to take one of those jobs over poly. Those guys must have really been getting screwed because it just doesn't make sense otherwise.28 Thanks this. -
I would need to sleep during the day . I thanked her and politely ended the phone interview right then and there .
I like Poly too , I have a very high pain threshold when it comes to the crap we
have to shoulder .
I'm sure there's a breaking point somewhere inside my head , just haven't
caved into it yet .
If I do leave someday it will be for a job
in the Southeast where I live . There's no need to suffer ice and snow and chains anymore in the NE or out west in the Washington state area , trucking isn't worth the extra effort .
We are not appreciated , why bother going out of our way for them and getting
paid nothing to do itArmyGuy Thanks this.
