Did you see the question mark in my post after the first three words? Like now? I was questioning the other poster on implying it hadn't passed, that he was wrong and it had already passed and mentioned how Congress had already passed it in the MAP 21 Legislation and FMCSA has put out the ruling.

And it doesn't matter to me. Opted to start using E-logs 4.5 years ago and have no desire to return to paper.

I can tell you what I will do. Any times I have a 2 or 8 hour stop for whatever reason, is getting recorded as sleeper, whether or not I actually slept. Then when it says I'm legal I will drive. I'm only going to stop to sleep when it says I can or if I get to the point I feel I am a danger.

The way I do it now, I mostly keep it legal, sometimes I wake up and need a few more hours rest and at the end of the day I back up the whole day so I stay on schedule. Sometimes I drive past the driving limits by a few hours, only when I feel good though. That small coloring outside the lines as I call it will end when I get the elog. I guess I will be safer that way.

It's not about safety. It is about control Government control over your life in the matrix of things.

Truckers are perfect because we're an easy target. Safety is just the excuse to further their agenda. Who is against safety? No one.

It is just like when Clean Air and Clean Water came out, who would fight against that?

So in trucking, they have a control group of about 3 million people. Roughly 1% of the population. In this group, let's take away their guns, let's take away as many freedoms as we can and see just how far we can push before they push back. Then we will know how far we can push the other 99%

    1. I am leased to a company.

    2. The times I have used them in my trucks I always used the one the company had already installed. Didn't know there was a choice.

I do own an ELD device that is fully compatible with being plugged into the truck's brain though. I suppose in the future I would prefer to use my own unit especially if the (future) company had a different flavor of ELD I have never run before.

The biggest thing I like about the ELD is that law enforcement believe they are uncheatable.
There are pros and cons with both paper logs and electric logs, but the mandate breathing down on us such as it is, it pays to have found ways to do things on ELD that you just would never get away with on paper logs.

Totally agree. I hope America becomes great again but I'm not holding my breath, it's all a joke, we're all ####ed.

I learned how to cheat mine, just ways of not getting my log started until I'm ready to get rolling lol. Either way the company can fix the hours for you if something happens...

I have been thinking about this. If you have your own authority then it seems like it would be pretty easy to get your "safety director" to "correct" your logs, right? And we're back to business as usual! LOL
