Spyder, I looked at a glider truck today, 12.7 200k miles...engine blown. I've read on here that some of those glider engines get built with after market parts...cylinder packs, crank, cam, injectors even the head. Those prices you are quoting are quite a bit lower than a local independent told me. I do trust this guy with the work. He is the only independent in this area who I would let touch an engine. He told me 10-12k for a basic inframe generally. He also said that if I wanted to go back genuine Detroit, it would be more if that engine is full of after market parts. He says Detroit won't touch them for cores, so I would have to pay core charges on basic everything that I replaced. What's your thoughts?
I'm probably going to back out on the truck btw. It looked pretty rough for a 4 y/o 200k mile truck. I didn't even look up the salesman, just walked around it and looked in the door..and left.
What truck do you own

There are a lot of upgrades you can and should do to a platinum overhaul. oil cooler (might be included), air compressor, turbo, cut counter bores. the list just goes on and on.
