Not with this account. Heavy equipment, and I've waited as long as 2 hours for their field man to bring in machinery to go up north for repair.

Another equipment account we had, I used to do that all the time. Tail gate the crap er I mean freight, go find their big old fork lift (I mean BIG and OLD) and use it to unload the crap, er freight.

Yeah, they are a real PITA! I've been known to negotiate with the consignee to either pick it up later after my drops, or possibly tomorrow. Or next week. Never really ran into a problem with doing that. Of course the little stuff, you just load it and work around it, but some of the freight would be next to impossible to work around. Particularly if your remaining stops had no dock, so you could shuffle things around.

Gaaaah!!!! Hose to my turbo blew off. Been stuck on the side of the interstate for about an hour now. Yup.... $3 clamp is all I need. Corporate policy says I am not allowed to do any work of any kind on my truck.

Does anyone else have this problem?

If I had the clamp I would put it on. Sometimes you have to say to Hell with "corporate policy".

    lcfd15 and Pintlehook Thank this.

If I had a screwdriver or small socket, and the clamp, I'd say the heck with it, fix it and roll. Especially if it keeps me out of a layover situation.

I've never worked at an outfit that was blatant about it. A couple of them "hinted" they would "rather" you didn't work on the truck, but nobody actually came out and said it was a no-no. Particularly if it would get you out of a sticky situation, or avoid a hellacious service call fee.

You know what really strikes me as interesting about the guys on this thread? Most of them genuinely care about their company and customers. I like seeing that pride still exists out here.
