It's not like he is on the Dan Ryan. He's in Utah.
Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
Oh wow. At the 12 minute mark with a truck passing is plenty enough to be fired for and thats not counting the previous many reasons prior to that. For the life of me I cant understand why anyone wants to document their driving skill or lack thereof for all the world to see including the employer.

I think you would be fine. I would tell people you were written up for violating filming company vehicles or something like that. I can't do a vlog where I work. It's just their rules.
If you got into an accident, some could claim you have a history of being a distracted driver.Bean Jr. and double yellow Thank this. -

1) You were probably turned in by that fellow CR England driver that you wouldn't let pass (which was truly awful on your part: drivers face enough discourtesies on the road without getting it from other drivers -- especially from their own company). Plus reaching for the camera as you're side by side with another semi going down the interstate isn't safe or responsible.
2) while I don't see the Vlogging itself as an immediate/imminent danger, the way you did it was not safe -- you can't be looking down away from the road 80% of the time for 1,000,000 miles and expect to come out accident-free... If you must do it while driving, point the camera at you while you look at the road and talk. And keep at least 1 hand on the wheel -- you don't have to be so expressive with your hands
No, I don't think it will keep you from getting another job, but it may close a few doors. If asked, be honest and say it was a wake-up call -- that you've learned your lesson and won't do anything to jeopardize your cdlLast edited: Sep 16, 2016

I couldn't watch the entire 17 minutes, but I did slide the cursor forward 3 minutes at a time and got snippets. First, you truck was moving already when you were re-adjusting the camera angle. That fails the 'hands free' smell test. Also, looks like you spent most of your time looking at the camera on the dash and a couple times took both hands off the wheel even when that other CREngland truck was trying to pass you.
I've been vlogging too but with a forehead cam. I'm catching a lot of heat from other drivers who have seen the vids thinking it is unsafe. One guy wants to tattle on me to my company about it.Lepton1 Thanks this.
