They've got new dispatch software that goes online Oct 3. They're making everybody take a class on how to work the new system.
I managed to squeeze in a monday morning class and left it thinking there are multiple ways i'm gonna be left hanging while they try to make it work.
As for new fleets I was hoping somebody else might jump in from Texas or something like that.

So now you don't call in and get load info? I swear technology is their downfall. When i got there in 2012 they had elogs in like 3/4 of the trucks and that was really all the technology they had going. It was good. Not a lot of students, they were still a company you could respect. So aggravating to see them make these drastic jumps to fit right in with all the other junk mega carriers.
mitmaks Thanks this. -
I don't know if your dispatcher is still going to call and go over the load with you.
But I think their big thing with this new software is being able to tie your fuel card to your dispatch. They're issuing new cards and saying the new cards won't work until you receive your first dispatch on the new system. I think they're trying to force fuel compliance by restricting the cards to only authorize at pre-planned fuel stops.
If that's the case, I know i'm screwed.
In the distant past they figured out that routing and fuel didn't work in Canada so they allowed drivers to get fuel wherever they could find it and route themselves however it made sense to get where they were going.
A little while back some genius got rhe idea that drivers in Canada needed to be fuel compliant and demanded that dispatchers start sending fuel and routing with Canadian loads. They didn't do anything to fix the broken system... They just demanded that it be used anyway.
So as it sits, I have to call my dispatcher several times a week and remind him that I need fuel and I won't be within 200 miles of the stop the computer gave me. He has to try and monkey with the routing and see if the computer will come up with something I can use. So far it's been about 10% successful. The rest of the time I just have to get fuel at a known stop and take the hit on my compliance rating.
As ramblingman can tell you, they don't like ro give out pay raises to drivers with a fuel compliance rating in rhe toilet.
And if this new system restricts where you can fuel, I'm going to be sitting on empty somewhere in BC while they try to figure out what to do about it.Jubal3 Thanks this. -
So FwL, how did this end up in favorite companies section of the forum?
So far I dont see anything positive listed in this thread.
I run Canada as well and used to be able to fuel anywhere. They havent told me to be compliant, only after week later a Ive filled up at FlyingJ in Alberta my dispatch calls me up asking how come I did it. Then he informed me that I have to be compliant lol.
These people in the office dont communicate well at all. Im pretty sure they only have one brain to share between all of them.LoneCowboy Thanks this. -
Hahaha. This sounds like the office for us over here in the black trucks with tiny sleepers and tankers. Lol
-
It's no longer a trucking company. It's a technology driven machine that has a few employees that happen to drive trucks. The others just sit in the office and think of stupid things like this to do and enforce
ramblingman, mitmaks and Roberts450 Thank this. -
Something positive.....
Let me think....
LOL
Seriously, I actually like my job regardless of all the things I can and do complain about. For me the stuff I don't like is about 10-20% of my week. That's a pretty good signal to noise ratio compared to every other job I've had.
The rest of the week is just me and the truck doing our thing with nobody to bother us. -
They need a "just talking about my job" section.

These scumbags only give you 1/2 cent "raise" but expect 2 cents from you from every mile driven.macmoran Thanks this. -
I'm surprised that nobody made any noise when they rolled out the new program and insisted it was such a good deal that they were going to sign everybody up for it automatically... unless you sent in an opt out form by the end of the week.
