NO. Colleague of mine was running uphill on I-40 into California last week, in the truck lane when another truck crossed over the solid white line to pass him. Then yet another truck jumped all the way out into the fast lane to pass both trucks.

CHP pulled all 3 trucks over and the two passing trucks were both ticketed despite their protestations that my colleague should have slowed down to help them pass faster. CHP officer just laughed at them for that.

I gotta tell ya, I don't know where or when this concept of slowing down for the illegal rude passer came from but it needs to be eradicated like a virus. Every time you slow down to help an illegal passer you're just encouraging him to do it again next time. What people need to be encouraged to do is chill out and drive the speed limit with proper following distances. Leave the anger at home.

And the body camera is mounted on my forehead, totally hands free so no distractions. I believe it adds another level of accuracy to filming driving above and beyond simple windshield dashcams because what the viewer sees is exactly what the driver sees from the exact angle and point of view of the driver. It is a great training tool for newer drivers to see what it looks like for example, when backing and how things are supposed to look in the mirrors etc.

Wow, just wow. I made my post above in response to the first post in this thread, and before reading all the other posts. My bad! Thanks to you who told me about the "forehead camera." I hadn't heard of that before...

Good grief, did you really say that????

Guess all I can say here is that I've learned that threads from our OP, just are a waste of time, and not worth looking at, unless you need a good belly laugh, or want to argue.

It is law enforcements job to enforce the law. Do us a favor and leave it to them. Also you know that distracting camera can get you popped also.

There's a difference between slowing down to let someone pass for no reason and slowing down to let them in because they're seconds away from plowing head on into oncoming traffic. If someone is passing me, legally or not, I maintain speed. If there is an imminent risk of a collision, I slow down and let them in.

Agreed on the sentiment of the hammer lane police.

As for the camera, from an LEO's perspective how is it a distraction if it's not handheld?

Too fast for conditions. In this case the truck was going to fast for the condition that presented itself. The driver of the truck was going to fast while not paying proper attention to the roadway.

Following too close would have been to easy lol

I'm not out to enforce laws. I just see stuff every day and found a way to document what I see in my daily travels and share it. I provide my own commentary to accompany the videos, it is all for entertainment or training purposes only.

I think the people who come to the video forum and crush me so hard are just mad about a video from over a year ago I shared and will never let me live it down on any future videos no matter how right I am.
