We switch to trip pay for that.

It varies though, depending on which direction you're going. Runs going north from here pay better than runs going south, for example.

I put in for a volume run for Monday and a more senior guy also put in for that same run after me so I got bumped off it. Oh well such is life.
I've done more volume work as low man n the totem pole then most of 20+ year veteran guys this year so they can have a turn lol.

Well there goes the day sitting in traffic jam because of an accident.
Way behind won't be able to catch up.

OK, time to relax until you can get moving again. Things like this happen to everybody, just let your dispatch know what is happening.
Whatever you do, don't let crap like this bother you. Save your ulcers for dealing with things you can do something about.

I got it all done I did tell dispatch and they would have sent the van out to help if I was going to have a hard time. I've only so far had one time where I brought two stops back it was last winter and it was a long awful snowy day. Actually today once I got moving again I was able to get through it all pretty good.

Oh crap.. what a day. Started out my morning doing a residential delivery. Some twin size fridge/freezer combo going into some ladies garage. The pallet was banded to a pallet that was smashed to hell... So my dock crew put it ontop of another pallet. Liftgated it down and guess what... The pallet was 4 inches too tall for the garage

I felt bad cause had it not been for the additional pallet, I could have gotten it in. Being the pushover that I am I called out for a co-worker less than a mile away to help me get it into the garage. He showed up, he worked his magic and the fridge was in. I shook his hand and he left.

Here is what pissed me off.. I feel we went above and beyond what our job requires us to do. We are curb side only. I felt an incoming rain storm and did not want her expensive fridge to get rained on while her husband was at work. This was a 600 lbs fridge that takes two people to move.

Maybe she doesn't understand curbside only or maybe she has selective hearing and because she has a bunch of money and a big house, she was used to getting stuff her way..

But she threw a fit when I was leaving cause I did not unbox her freight and set it up for her. I spent half an hour on a 15 min residential delivery, and she still expected me to unbox her freight, install it (which would have been a terrible idea cause I don't read instructions), plus haul away her trash.

"Ma'am, we are not authorized to set this up or even unbox it. If you are not happy with the setup, I can call my coworker back and we will ship it back for free" ...your call

What a piece of work. They feel like they are entitled to everything cause they shelled out $5k on a stupid fridge.
