Oh god. I could not work food delivery. I'd be in the back of my trailer all day eating my freight.

I'm always looking at the stuff we deliver going "oh those are new or I forgot about those or I have to pick up those at my next trip to the store.

Here we go @Big Don, is this the Fruit Cake you were talking about? And yeah, they tasted as bad as they looked.

One of my favorites was something our competitors delivered, which was Entenmanns. They have the best Bakery products out there, but they are EXPENSIVE and they treat them like GOLD.

It's been too many years. The fruitcake looks the same, but the packaging is different from what I remember.
As I said, I thought they were a Dolly Madison product, but maybe they actually were Hostess.

Edison, NJ has a store that sells entenmanns products only. I think it's like damaged goods, returns, stuff of that nature. One of these days I'm going to park the truck in the shopping center next door, and go load up on entenmanns.

Yeah, those are thrift stores. They sell outdated goods that's not good enough for the grocery markets. They tend to be cheaper than what you would buy at the store, but it's right on the borderline of being officially called STALE. We had a couple of those thrifts stores at Hostess. They tend to have 2 expiration dates, one for the grocery market and one for the thrift store, and from there the leftovers wind up as pig feed.

The old joke about one fruit cake making the rounds of the entire extended family, at Christmas, since 1913 or something like that?

The vast majority of products are just fine for a while after their expiry. But I don't trust any baked or dairy product.

Mike2633 and Sho Nuff Thank this.
