Tired of getting layoffs so I thought two years back that I would give trucking a try. Didn't, got a lay off coming up yet again. Kicking myself in the ### as I now have to start the whole process again. What has y'alls experience been? That is those that started at that age. I'm in pretty good shape, not obese but, not a track star either.

    You can do it.

There have been others here before you that have done it, and at least one that started at 60.

You will be fine. The average age of drivers in the US is around 50.

I'm a millennial and I feel out of place sometimes.

    KillingTime and Boriqua Thank this.

Thanks for the reply. What type of hauling are you doing?

I just started at the age of 47 only local though. Well kinda regional as I'm in all New England states along with NY, NJ. But home every night. I don't think I could handle long haul though.

I live in Rockport, Texas. Looking at local out of Corpus Christi or closer. If that's even possible.

I am turning 55 in a few days. Was laid off in April, waiting for WOIA funding. I will hopefully have my CDL soon and can hire on with any decent outfit. I am shedding a few pounds, but can hide behind half the population.

    Boriqua Thanks this.
