Ouch. Sounds like her pre-existing conditions really jacked your rates. Not much anyone can do there. Looks like you're going to have to go job shopping based on healthcare premiums, instead of pay.

I don't think her pre-existing issues had anything to do with the rate, it's the cheapest (per check) traditional plan with a $30 office co-pay they offered. The HSA plans are for people who don't use insurance very often. With as often as she see's her doctor, a HSA plan would be a lot higher in terms of deductions. What I need is a job that pays more than what I was earning 12-14 years ago. I will gross less this year than I did in '08 during the worst of the recession. And that brief bump in miles I had recently was just my trimester's 1 good month...now that we're in a new trimester, I am back to my usual 22-2300 miles a week.

Have you gamed out going the highest deductible and just paying out of pocket for the office visits? How often does she need to go?

The cheapest traditional is the highest deductible plan. She has to see the doctor 2 out of every 3 months (2 90 day perscriptions, on different 90 day cycles. Both require blood work and exam to be done before renewing for another 90 days.) In fact 1 can't be sent by mail thru our insurance (Poly and Crete's insurance allowed it) she has to go get a 30 day refill every month for 3 months at the pharmacy. But she has another perscription that our insurance allows to be mail-scriped where Poly and Crete's wouldn't...kinda wierd.

In case anyone hasn't spoke to the insurance folks, I was told by Briana in HR that we have to speak to them even if we aren't changing anything. It doesn't automatically renew. 1st insurance company I've ever had that does it that way.

I agree. I've never heard of mandatory meeting if you're not changing anything. Fortunately, I was in CR the other day & remembered to stop in. Took about 10 minutes, and they're throwing in a year of identity theft protection (don't know what that entails as I haven't looked at the packet they gave me yet).

Also, I just noticed on the employee portal that Chad has posted the new MPG criteria for PBP. AND, there's a new instruction sheet on how to print out your monthly logs for per diem (in case of IRS audit?), as Magnum will no longer provide the yearly info for us.
