We'll trust a 19 year old with a tranporer carrying THAAD missiles to Korea, but dam if we don't entrust the kid with a 5000 dollar used up tractor that is Kept together is enough.

Sure, I understand. Im trying to be over simplistic. It's amazing when a very young sailor has control of a 95000 ton carrier at speed a classified distance from a equally almost as large fleet support alongside actively transferring supplies in 20 foot seas. One twist of that brass wheel while daydreaming potentially will get thousands killed. And probably a enranged America seeking to the question Remember the Maine.

Yeah but he has boot camp and specialized training as well. But I get what you are saying that even that training is not too much for it.

Yes it is normally enough for most people to be able to pas the CDL test. It is not nearly enough to be a safe professional driver.....that takes continued training after you get to work and constant desire to better yourself.

Based on what I see from most drivers out there, some people NEVER get it.....even if they do have their license.

That's typical. You get just enough time to be able to squeak through the skills test... You won't feel ready for it. It doesn't have to be perfect, just good enough to pass.

    First off the video......TDILF

Now a serious response. When I first learned to fly the average student could solo an aircraft after 8 hours. My dad soloed in 1.5 hours. It took me 13. The amount of time it takes to solo is not the standard at which someone will end up. I have had far more experience then my father now. But he just took to quicker.

Learning to drive a truck was difficult for me. I hit many a sign, light pole, electrical pole, tree, and other things before I got the hang of it. And that was going forward. Backing, I did my fair share of damage also.

You very well can learn to pass the driving test for you CDL in 10 hours. But learning to operated a Commercial Vehicle in a professional matter will take a lifetime. As slipping up, even a little bit, can do a great deal of damage and could get someone killed.

That is really the truth, I wound up with 14 hours of training but with my work and the school pushing me I passed on the first try. I'm now going to be paired with another driver at work for awhile then I will be on my own. Two 60 mile round trips a day for 10 hours +, a lot better than a class B with many stops and tight places.
