I've had the same problem more than once going to Pittsburgh. Just about everytime I've been there, so I don't go to Pittsburgh anymore.

6 Wheeler IT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME, going into Pitts. Also staying away from produce. Between the broker and receiver it took 11 hours. Broker sent express code and it was wrong. It took hours to clear it up. When, I confronted the guy at the receiver office his attitude was he didn't care. SCUM BAGS.

Pilgrims pride Gainesville ga. Obviously PP hasn't fixed much after their bankruptcy, these plants are such filthy unsanitary ####holes I will never buy chicken produced with that brand. Also expect to spend your entire 10 hrs waiting for these clowns to load you since they never have anything ready. Spent just about that amount of time just for a couple of pallets.

I went there a couple of months ago doing a Walmart dedicated backhaul returning to the Shelbyville,TN distribution center. Got there at 10 am for a 4 pm pickup. The load was due back at Shelbyville at 6 am the next day. I left to go get some lunch and dinner because I knew I wasn't going anywhere for awhile. Returned at 2 pm, they were still waiting on product (about 10,000 chickens short, lol). Waited in their trailer lot until 5:30 am the NEXT DAY when they got the load ready(obviously it was going to be late at this point-not my fault). Didn't get back to Shelbyville until almost 11 am.
Got $180 of detention pay out of it though.lol

The two blocks where Pilgrims Pride is located REAKS of chicken blood and who knows what else.

I'm here now to deliver. picked up out of junction city, KS. I was early to shipper but 4 hours in the dock there. 14 was dead by the time I got my bills. luckily the sapp Bros was 100 yards away. No cat scale, just a generic one. do my 10 and haul ###. 650 miles real world (pc claims 590) but I had to go 40 miles out of route to do a double check via cat scale. so 690 miles total. knowing all this in advance if communicate with Dispatch and say there's no way to deliver before taking another 10. I'm told csr will renegotiate the delivery appointment . OK fine.

Arrive this morning as soon as was safe and legal.

Both women behind the traffic desk acted as if they had nothing but resentment for drivers. neither of them were familiar with the dot matrix bills from the shipper.

Sign on wall reads "if you are treated in an unprofessional manner please call and speak with a manner" lists phone number.
(I'm thinking wow. if they have to put up that sign what has happened here to cause the need for it)

So they tell me my appointment never got changed and that I need to pay them $120 late fee.

One of them calls on the radio asking for dock door assignment.
Woman: got a John Morrell load that's late for 10pm last night.
    Radio: how late is he?
Woman: 10 o clock last night
Radio: #### him. put him on the street.
Woman (to me): park on the street and we'll get you if we can get to you. but you need to bring us that check ASAP.

Multiple trucks are lining up and down the street for hundreds of yards. in not making an extra trip walking in the cold! If the company decides to pay it, I'll give them the check when I get my dock!

Get Parked. call that number. who answers? not managers. but the woman who was the issue!

I can understand being upset about a late delivery. but direct that hostility where it belongs. the shipper broker CSR in this case. not the driver who did everything he could to get it to you as
    soon as possible.

    Update:
They called me and asked for the check so they could put me in the dock. I asked if the dock was ready so I could drive up give the check and dock. they say yes.
Then as I'm going through the gate the security guy stops me and said go back to the street they changed their mind.
Frustrated I took the check in. then dealing with the snotty women. I took this picture 20161203_093630.jpg and the snotty fatter woman says you can speak to a manager right now. you don't have to call.

    OK

Guy comes out and I lay out all the issues thus far. told him I documented the experience on thetruckersreport.
He listened but offered no remedy. I explained that the attitude directed at the drivers was uncalled for and he agreed. but he also said he apologizes on behalf of the company if I was mistreated, but since he didn't hear it he couldn't do anything about it. 20161203_093630.jpg

I'm really glad I quit the OTR crap and drive a dump truck local now. The people that need our services are usually really nice and very glad to see you when you show up. The last two projects I worked on, both foreman came up to me and thanked me for doing a good job. Never got that at a dock.

    I did once.

I delivered a Bosch refrigerator to an appliance store in Salisbury a few days ago, and the guy that signed for it was ecstatic that it arrived in one piece since apparently that one was the last in the entire country.

"I only brought it from Baltimore. I don't deserve the credit here" I told him, since 99.9% of our freight destruction occurs on the dock.

When I did what you do (P&D).....

I Had a few Liftgate inside deliveries in the Ritzy-titzy neighborhood here in Lake Forest,Il and Evanston.

I Remember the Customers Wanting their Merchandise in the Garage or Basement- Very Happy to see me-And a Tip Which I always declined.......

Only Bad thing was the Snotty Looks I got From the Neighbors because They never see a 40 foot Truck Near their Drive

Garage usually isn't a problem as long as the driveway is paved. I'm not taking anything down any steps into the basement though. Even the company will veto that.
