so i've been going through these forums trying to find info on Navajo. almost everything is older than dirt.
anyone currently driving for them? any new hires?

i' supposed to leave out sunday for monday orientation.
so far, i'm already a little concerned. recruiter told me today, 38 com. but when i applied the info was 43 cpm (see link) http://navajoexpress.com/wp-content/themes/navajo/pdf/navajo_faq.pdf
i've been driving since 2007, with some time off here and there. but i think i have about 5 years total OTR.
they also claim they want us running 3000 miles/week. so that nickle difference is about $150/week. is 3000 miles/wk even realistic in a governed truck? how often am i burning my 14 docked at the shipper/receiver?

I've talked to a few Navajo drivers, and 2700-3200 per week seemed to be the average. How much of your experience is recent? You said 5 years since 07, but a lot of times experience towards pay only counts in the last 3-5 years. One thing I will say is that their trucks always seem to be in decent shape, trailers as well!

If you can spare the time-keep a post updated about your starting experience. List the good and bad as you see it, share the information you can for the next driver.

Many companies, when they list pay rates on websites, will lump together the mileage pay and available bonus. The .43 represents what you could, theoretically, make per mile if you get the full fuel and/or performance bonus each quarter. And yes, it is intentionally deceptive.

The full story is on Google. I think I read she's the owners grand daughter or something like that. I looked it up a few yrs. ago. One of the drivers said she's obese now.

If you're gonna do that, you may wanna change your avatar (if that is you)....companies DO come to this site; and if you post something negative, there's a good chance you'll lose your job.

P.S.- That really IS me in my avatar....cute bugger aren't I.

I drove for them 3 months and wanted to quit in orientation but plane ticket home was 1000 and bus ride was over 34 hrs, lies lies lies..I drove regional put of Rockwall Tx,that office is not bad but the home office lies when it's easier to tell the truth. Pull alot of meat loads and you sit..a lot! hardly no detention cause of the 3 hours past the out time to pay detention...then your late of that happens.

Oh and I've been out here 26 years and most companies will lie to some point but they lied about my pay, lied about the regional job and it's running area, lied about not having any trucks available on yard. Said they didn't have one at end of orientation, asked the shop across street"yeah they said we have 3 or 4" sent me on a bus to Kansas City MO. to kenworth to pick up truck after shop visit. 12 hours on a bus overnight after all day at last day orientation. Sent the other driver to salt lake city to pick up a truck also. so they use new hires to pick there broken down and repaired trucks up everywhere. they did pay me a whopping 150$ for that crappy bus ride with heathens.

    update:
so i did go to orientation and am now a driver for Navajo Express.
they offered greyhound from indiana to denver. i scoffed and they ponied up for a cheap flight frontier airlines.
decent hotel but it's undergoing renovations and may not be the same place for much longer.
orientation is monday & tuesday OR wednesday & thursday.
they shuttle picks up new drivers from hotel (ramada plaza denver central [which is becoming a raddison]) at 0630-0645. boring paperwork and videos, but happy speakers and free food until 1500-ish, then back to the hotel which has a 'restaurant' with meals from 8-20 bucks. dominos and pizza hut deliver too.
drug test and driving/backing test as per usual. some folks may need an extra physical. (i did not)
they also have a VR simulator made partly from an international tractor and 5 projector screens and some beast-level computer components. try it if you have the chance. but for me the unreality of it left me a bit dizzy and headache for hours after.
no smoking anywhere on campus except for 20'x20' space under a carport like thing (luckily it's covered, but still open to the wind).
driver's lounge has big comfy couches and huge tv. free wifi, vending machines, free coffee, laundry machines and a transflo station.
most trucks are newer T-680s with double bunks. APUs are standard for OTR drivers. fleet changing from qualcomm to blue tree (yes this is a good move!) most rigs have in dash dins which have built in bluetooth so you can listen to podcasts, music, mp3's, streams from your phone as well as answer calls with one button on the unit, so you are not seen holding a phone or wearing a headset as it works through the speakers and dedicated mic.
after falling in love with the cascadia, i didn't expect to like the T-680, but i'm loving it. great sound insulation, comfy, room enough. swivel table is a bonus.
i was also very weary about going from a straight 10 to an automatic. but as i acclimate to it, it's growing on me. (not the paddle shifter though. i will ALWAYS HATE those!) the only thing that sucks is the reverse. it's either zero or full throttle it seems. no clutch to augment the speed. however i love the automatic 5th wheel release. no more filthy arm or dislocated shoulder from reaching for the release handle.

for me i was in the hotel sunday monday tuesday and had a truck assignment wednesday afternoon.
but my truck was in chicago. "38 hour bus ride...? no thanks! i'll pay the difference between your bus ticket and a flight." they countered and said if i pay for the flight up front, they would reimburse me up to the cost of a greyhound ticket ($240). so i pull out my phone and google cost of flights. found a first class ticket for $232 on american airlines. get a receipt from taxi from o'hare to the truck ($86) and get reimbursed for that too.

even though they claim to pay 43 cpm for experienced drivers, it's really 38 cpm and then a monthly bonus of 5 cpm if you meet the criteria.
    so they paid for:
$108 my taxi from home to airport
    $??? flight to denver
    $ 68 taxi to hotel
    $??? hotel and shuttle
$ 68 taxi from navajo to airport
$232 1st class airfare to chicago
    $86 taxi o'hare to truck
    $150 truck recovery fee
$??? food and drinks during orientation
    $75 orientation pay
all empty and loaded miles since

so far, they seem like a decent outfit.

steadyJ, Rocknroller4, ExOTR and 4 others Thank this.
