Tell them to wait there a couple days. I'll gladly trade with them. I'm sure my DBL won't mind the little detour from NJ.

Thank god all but 3 of the vehicles I have owned have been manual transmissions. It actually makes me sad when the topic comes up in conversation and I learn that only about 1 in 15 people I talk to can drive a stick. Of course that metric is off because I don't talk to that many people :D

I get sad when no one remembers 3 on the tree, or know what a granny gear is, and why you rarely use it.

I get sad because I don't have to manually crank the engine over.

I also miss hand churned butter. Sure it went rancid fast, and there might be a splinter or two, but dang-nabit that's the way things ought to be!

    Now get off my lawn!

Seriously I understand where y'all are coming from but things change. Manual transmissions haven't been more fuel efficient or cheaper since the late 80s. Not all change is good, not all change is bad. While working on your own car is not really an option anymore, how often do you really need to do anything to it?

Technology wise the heavy truck industry is almost two decades behind POV. Heavy truck operations are more complicated and require more nuance. The technology is coming, lament it all you want but as Tony Soprano once said "remember when is the lowest form of conversation".

3 on the tree is why B&M made a floor shifter for a 71Chevy 1/2 ton, and granny is for pullin stumps with your 69Ford 3/4 ton with a top loader spun by a 360 o_O

My first truck was a 71 Chevy c30 that I bought when I was 14 back in 2002. $400 and a days worth of grunt work for the liquor store owner who sold it to me. God I loved that truck and everything it taught me. I've had 7 or 8 67-72 Chevys and still can't get enough of that body style. Nothing like taking a turn and hearing the fuel slosh around behind your seat too!

I don't mind there being manual transmissions one way or another, it was just the freakin' attitude of these kids. I swear to God one of them said he had to take 3 weeks off for being disabled because his leg hurt SO much after a week in a 10 speed. Uhm... yeah, kid, get out of that Freightshaker with the hydraulic assisted clutch and climb into my old KW with the spring clutch, you big baby. They were so full of it. "They were lucky I didn't file for worker's comp!" *eyeroll* Based on their attitudes, they'll be out of a job in a few more months, either way.

Lol I remember when I switched from the spring clutch in my 87 jetta to the hydraulic clutch in my 97 escort. I thought my foot was going to go through the floor :)
