So if I'm understanding this correctly, if Oregon calls for chains, I have to put on a minimum of four sets? Primary drive axle, both sides, and one on each axle on each side of the trailer. (one on the driver side front axle and one on the passnger side rear axle).

    https://tripcheck.com/Pages/minimum-chain-requirements.asp

Tandem-drive axle commercial vehicles towing a semi-trailer must have chains on two tires on each side of the primary drive axle; or if both axles of the vehicle are powered by the drive line, one tire on each side of each drive axle. Chains must also be placed on two tires, one on each side, of any axle on the semi-trailer.

....asking for a friend? (God I dont wanna chain...)

Actually he is right. It has nothing to do with air volume but is a matter of mass. It takes longer for a full tank to chill so gelling is delayed.

Of course a larger volume of fuel will take a little longer to get down to the temperature that it will gel at but not much, it will still gel. Having a full tank is not a way of preventing gelling.

Usually the minimum in Oregon and Cali is a single on the back drives and a single on the front axle of the trailer.

Hahaha. I got told I wasn't a real truck driver because I wasn't leaving til sunrise so I can actually see the icy roads. Some of these people crack me up and probably will pass him later on while he is in the ditch.

I love the "you aint a real truck driver if..." qualifications....

From what I gathered, unless you haul cattle while using 4 log books, snorting coke for your pretrip, drive 90+ mph no matter the conditions using a cobra CB, no electronic anything in the truck, and make 10K a week...You just a steering wheel holder.

Ahh yes the steering wheel holder jab. I was sitting at a pilot lounge and some old man was yammering on about them steering wheel holders and I was doing my best to ignore him but he just kept on . he looked me dead in the eye and asked if I knew what he meant and I replied nope I'm just a steering wheel holder I don't know nothing. He looked sad and wandered away.
