Congrats on the parking job,, know what you mean about pulling a car hauler, for 15 yrs all I pulled was a Stretch RGN,, very difficult to back when stretched out to over 90ft and 12wide.. Hardest job was getting around truckstops and fueling when all stretched out and only 6inch clearance under trailer.
Someone told me that the CDL road test also has a limited number of pull ups allowed,, I do a lot of pull ups because I want to be very carful and get aligned equally between what ever is on both sides when I back,, So what as long as you don't hit anything when you back up,,

I don't do a lot of backing and when I do I can see thur my trl. but not gonna blame that second answer is Opelousas,LA. and the car hauler tracks a little different but like you said I took my time got it in there but they only allow 4 pull ups. And its been 26yrs since I took the CDL test don't remember even backing up

 

Coldwater has their grassroots meeting on Jan. 4th concerning the pilot program for cameras.

 

Don't feel bad 3 out of 5 were failed at my DC last week

 

There is a lot of driver's that think it's going to be a cake walk like other company's that they have been hired at.

 

I didn't think that the pre trip or road test were hard at all.

 

I don't think I would have passsed the pre trip portion if I hadn't come across this thread and the info in it. Never had to do a pre trip test before at any place I worked and got my CDL in 1986 so it was written test only back then. I also haven't passed yet, so I'm still "studying" lol.

 

I'm not saying it that's its hard. They just think it's like most other trucking jobs . If you pass a dot physical and have a class a license your hired. I worked for a company and did the test for new hires. I was told as long as they did not hit anything while on the road test they passed. If they did a good walk around and check lights they passed the pre trip. As long as they did not hit a trailer backing between to trailers no mater how long it took they passed. That will not work at Wal-Mart.

 

You sure have the right attitude and "stick-to-it-ness" in your character to succeed. I had a hiccup my 1st attempt, and was sent home because a sleep apnea deal, after passing everything else. just keep the faith, keep moving toward your goal, and the belief everything happens for a reason. I love it here, and met one of my best friends in orientation whom I'd never of met if I'd I made it thru my 1st go around. Good luck to you, sir.
