I was greasing my truck and couple of zerk fittings were oozing grease back out once I've greased them up.
Should they be replaced to fix this problem?

It almost looks like small ball bearing in the middle is missing and lets grease back out.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Yeah that happens. Some places it might not be a big deal but I'd just replace the zerks anyway

    Oxbow and passingthru69 Thank this.

Seems you heat them up cherry red with a torch and they'll start working.
    Take them off truck first

I use one of these on zerk that sometimes don't want to take grease. If I ever have one that the grease squirts out of and it is on a u-joint with two fittings I will go to the opposite zerk and pump grease in while holding my finger over the one that was oozing out and sometimes it will stop it. If not just replace it. Harbor Freight sells a zerk fitting set with various sizes.

If it's just that the zerk's bad, that's easy, just change it out....Now, if the grease inside the fitting/pin has fossilized, that's gonna require some heat and some penetrating oil to get things flowing again....Be careful with the heat too...

KB3MMX, Oxbow and rolls canardly Thank this.
