Not supposed to range shift in reverse. You must start off in low range reverse or high range reverse but must not range shift from low to high while in reverse gear.

better to listen to one teacher than 40 teachers. Ideally one teacher that teaches in a manner that connects with how you learn is best. But the confusion of switching between techniques will make it harder to learn & increase odds to mis-apply a technique. School is about getting the license. Your OTR trainer is about learning the skills. On your own is where you really learn what works for you. Don't avoid backing when you get your truck and you will get confidence. If you, like most drivers, spend your life looking for pull-through spots you'll never learn to back well.

Just passing by, x1Heavy and Velli Thank this.

    Won't be long.

Soon enough they'll be griping about the new 21 year old drivers.

Then they'll gripe about the automaton... Or, actually, we will (in our late years - we may be the next to last generation to actually DRIVE semi).... But the automaton will be incapable of caring.

Success has 50 Fathers, a failure is a Orphan. Keep that in mind. If youre working towards success you will have a thousand drivers telling you something that they think is best.

Only you yourself have to come up with something that clicks hey backing is EASY... why did no one teach me this before? Learning is a stressful job. But once you master it. Someday you will teach someone else.
