@spyder7723 We forgot to mention to you that we think there is some kind of short circuit somewhere as from time to time when we use the CB it causes the gauges to go crazy (back and forth) and red lights on one of the gauges lights up and it beeps until we release the mic. We repalced the mic and it still does it. So something weird is going on.

There were a LOT of internet issues yesterday because Amazon servers were down. It took a while to get all the folks using those hosting services to get back up. (I don't know who Mercer uses as a server, but sometimes the actual server is NOT who you purchase your space from.) However, the site is up (and you have the correct site), and the application is the second link down on the lefthand side.

Check the fuse panel. Does it look corroded up?

There is no corrosion. The fuses are inside the truck, so fortunately aren't exposed to the weather and salt.

    That sounds like RF interference.

You need to check the ground for the CB (it needs a good ground independent of the antenna ground), the antenna(s) ground (s) , the coax feed lines to your CB antenna(s), and may need to add a RF filter to the CB’s power feed (something like http://www.wearecb.com/cb-radio-sound-filters/).

If you using one of the so called cheep Italian “liner” amplifiers (most of them are Class C amps which are not linear at all) that may also be the source of the RF interference.

Edit: It could also be an indication of a bad ground to your instrument cluster which would also explain the intermittent issues I believe you said you were having with them.

Thank you @Ubu My husband said he will check it out. He is a little doubtful as he has an independent ground for the CB and it worked well for years, but says it never hurts to check. Maybe it is the instrument cluster as you and @spyder7723 suggested. Thank you both of you very much.

I see that mercer wants at least 6 months experience now. I was planning on a May orientation. Since I don't have flatbed experience what company would you recommend to get experience from. I have a total of 12 years CDl experience with the last 10 years running tanker (gas/diesel) deliveries, the 10 year tanker experience is with the same company as well. Thanks.

The more I think about it I would place my bets on a bad ground to the instrument cluster.

    Chickadee Thanks this.
