You 'used to' when - how long ago? There's a Black Horse carrier near me, that operates out of Georgia Pacific. I'll have to check into them... thanks!

Anyway, to the OP - sometimes a job isn't necessarily strictly about the money. You may end up somewhere that pays slightly more, but you won't be happy because of the equipment or running lanes or your dispatcher. My advice would be to weigh ALL options before moving to another employer. Don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions.

I made a similar point a minute ago about deductions / taxes / insurance... and you're absolutely right - it's not always about money... and in my case, money has never been a determining factor for anything I've ever done as a carreer choice. Luckily I've made enough to give me enough, and still have a decent savings.

Yeah... no interest in anything other than dry van and no-touch freight... but 'might' consider a tanker hauling dry products?

It's hard to guarantee anything. Driver pay needs to be performance driven to ensure you get the most out of your employees. I've heard of a few companies guaranteeing 1000 per week when stuff slowed down, but they require you to stay out minimum of 2 weeks.

I already get paid a guaranteed $1000 per week... my company pays $1200 per week if I handle freight, but I'm not interested in throwing tires or unloading a trailer filled with boxes / totes at my age ... would probably do me more harm than good over the remaining 10 years before I retire.

The company also guarantees home time every weekend. I'm wondering if any company out there can beat their guarantee?
Dry van, no-touch, non- hazmat.

A&R transport,Venezia,system freight,new penn,central transport,manfredi,tony palumbo,etc and 100's of local jobs around philly area,to me 1000 dollars a week gross isn't very good and just about every job around here pays that.

I don't touch freight. I drive a dry van, no hazmat, a good mix of drop-hook, live loads and live unloads every week... and waiting for my next load... a lot of that actually.

Anyone know of a company that guarantees a better salary AND gives a full 48 hours at home every weekend?

I don't get to go home every weekend, but I'm happy with my job. These are my recent pay stubs, and those are take home numbers.

the wood chip haulers in the washington state are giving raises and competing for drivers
im grossing 1100 and something like 87 $ 5 days a week and they ask me every tuesday. if i would like to work saturday
the big one in chehalis was advertising 45 cpm and 22.50 an hour for on duty not driving
otr drivers receive a week of training and there are no sleepers.
your on night shift until you get seniority though

That was last year. They haul dedicated freight for several different industries. I did auto parts delivery to the service depts for every Mazda dealership in East Tennessee.

I've since quit driving to work in the operations side of trucking
