I bet he misses it a lot. And then remembers the time he went out to the truck and it went click click click grunt. We always remember the fun stuff and fidget about the times when our alternator decided January in Minnesota was a good time to go belly up. No way he misses those days.

Been a year, don't miss it at all. Every day is a good day. My life is so simple, I live 10 miles from the interstate and never get on it. I got no business on the big road. It makes all the difference having a wonderful wife to share it with.

I always thought I was rock solid and I was great at dealing with stress. Looking back, all those years were taking a great toll on me. It took 9 months off and it was like the stress that I didn't even know was bothering me was gone and my mind and body got a new start.

When I was trucking I worried (obsessed) all the time about my load, freight damage, weather, accidents, big and small, my next load. Getting lost going to the shipper or receiver. Every time I saw am ambulance I worried about the kids at home, I worried about down turns in the economy, going broke because of big repairs.

I didn't just think of these things, I obsessed over them all the time. I told myself that always thinking of these worst case scenarios helped me make good business decisions and I made many great decisions over the years.

My advice for you guys is to think of these things but don't obsess over them. They say stress is a killer. I thought I was great at dealing with it, but how my body reacted to a stress free life, I have to believe, had I kept trucking either my mental health or physical health would have taken a turn for the worse very soon.

Stop and smell the roses, be happy. I have always been much to somber and serious my whole life.
