I almost always dh to houston, shreveport or new orleans from there. Can get air conditioners in san antonio but they are so cheap its only worth it if its a 1 stopper going to a very good area.

HELP! Those of you who know logbook regs well and ELD. What is the rule about taking ONLY an 8 hour break in the sleeper berth right now and then continuing on in the morning? Can we do that if we take a 2-hour break during the day tomorrow? It is very confusing and I think we may not get to the consignee on time tomorrow if we are forced to take a 10-hour break. Thank you for any advice you can give us!!

Any time I took 8 hours in sleeper birth I got back what I had left on my 14. I don't know what kind of time you will get back after the 2 hours weather it would be worth it, or just to sit for 10. When I run split log I will take my 2 hours first while loading/unloading then my 8 it's a lot easier to understand.

Ohhhh so that's why we had drive time available this morning when we only had 8-1/2 hours in the sleeper berth--we were off duty for a couple of hours at the shipper yesterday. Well, I recalculated and think--if traffic cooperates--we will just make it even taking our 10 hour break. Thanks @Highway Sailor :)

Easiest to explain with an example. Toy start at 7 am spend 4 hours going to shipper and loading. Take 2 hours off duty. Run the rest of your day out and take 8 in the sleeper that night. You get back the 4 you spent the previous morning getting to shipper. But not the time you used after the 2 hour.

The split sleeper berth doesn't seem too helpful. Let's say we go to sleep now, we will have 2 hours left of our 14 hours and then I think we would then be forced to take the second 2-hour break. So if I was three hours away, I would still be late. It's confusing and easier to just do the 10-hour break.

It will show any drive time left on your clock but, it can only be used if you have that time on your 14.

It's extremely helpful when running short 1 day loads where you unload and reload in the same day. It allows you to take an 8 and get unloaded early enough to still reload.

But once you reload are you then forced to take a break?
