Really? I lease from a company that has no problem fronting repairs. If you go too far negative they raise the maintenance holdback. Mine went from $0.09 to $0.10 per mile. Not a big deal. I had them go to $0.12 to knock it out faster and build a surplus.

    I didn't go broke.

Some folks just will never get it simply put a lot of them that turn around and run their mouth over this garbage I've never run a business in their life and have no idea but because they hold the steering wheel they know how to run a business and tell everybody else to have to run it as well this

When a company driver's truck breaks down and they put it in the shop and put the driver up in a hotel, that money comes from the driver and the other drivers in the company. Trust me, the company isn't paying for that. They get the money from the rates they get to haul loads. They also skim miles off the load they don't pay you to set aside for breakdowns and driver appreciation days where they maybe stole $1000 from you but give you a $3 dollar belt buckle, lukewarm soda and burnt hot dog.

I read about another company that gives a $5000 check to their drivers when they hit 5 years service with the carrier lol. Trust me, the company was holding $1000 or more of you money every year and were hoping you wouldn't make it to 5 years, but since you did, no big deal here's your money back. Wouldn't you rather have your $5000 grand in your hand during those 5 years rather than waiting for it?

Too many people get focused on the end cents per mile the lease op makes compared to the company driver. Always remember the cents per mile that are being paid for the truck, the insurance, the maintenance hold-back, the fuel, (write off), is also part of the package the company driver cannot even compare.

Just to be clear, the base is $0.90 but the current total is $1.12 with a potential bonus of $0.02 to make $1.14.

As for used up POS trucks, I could step into a brand new one if I chose too but I don't.

And lastly, here we go with the names. What works for you is great and I won't insult you.

actually you're already broke, you couldn't, write the check without borrowing money. What if the company didn't bail you out? What happens when you're in the hole and the cut you off, then you blow a motor or transmission, or any one of a thousand other things that can go wrong? Where do yo get the cash?

If memory serves, scottied67 owns a truck free and clear. He went to work at JCT to earn money to repair his own truck.

Actually, all things being equal, a lease operator making 55k net, will pay about $250 less in federal and SSN taxes than an employee making 55k.

Now get just a little creative or a little less conservative with your business deductions and a LO will pay much less than an employee.

Jump that income up to 75K, then it becomes feasible to form an LLC or an S corp. At that point an LO will be paying thousands less than an employee making the same.

    drvrtech77 and TAfool Thank this.
