For the past two months I have worked for UPS Freight on the Symbol Mattress account through a driver leasing company. But this past Friday, they told the driver leasing company they didn't want me back because they believed that this past Wednesday, I had hit a parked car and failed to report it. I am absolutely sure this is not true. The only evidence they had of this were some scuff marks on the trucks tire which I know for a fact was caused by the tire rubbing against a curb. There was no damage to the truck otherwise and I even had another driver riding with me who is backing up my claim that I had not hit anything that day. I don't know why they pulled this nonsense on me, but I definitely would not recommend anyone work there after an incident like that.
Fired from UPS Freight over lies and/or assumptions

I think you hit it.
The Patriot, bigblue19, 8thnote and 5 others Thank this. -
Why would they think you hit a parked car unless someone reported It? You could caught a car with talk swing or you just didn't see it. The other guy in the cab with you is a moot point.

Your story is believable.
When I drove for dot foods my asst manager called me one day asking if I side swiped a parked cars mirror with my trailer on this street next to a drop yard in los angeles. I told him to my honest knowledge no and that for whatever reason if I had even the slightest feeling that I did, I would have reported it.
He told me that he knows I'm an honest employee and he believed me. (Someone called the company who "witnessed" the incident that wasn't the owner and taken a picture of the trailer that I was pulling that day on that street. There was absolutely zero evidence in that picture of me hitting the vehicle).
My asst manager told me they inspected the trailer and again found zero evidence, so scratches scuffs etc although there probably wouldnt be anyway for tagging a car mirror.
Anyway he told me not to sweat it, he had complete trust in me etc and I never heard a peep about it until to my surprise after I left the company and applied elsewhere. Turs out the made it into a preventable against me on my record.
I immediately contacted the safety dept of dot who told me because it wasnt the car owner who reported it and it was a 3rd party witness, they weren't going to dispute it with them since it was less than $500 in damage so they just cut them a check. And because they had to cut them a check they had to give me a bs preventable. I think it was pretty sneaky and low of dot foods to have never told me they were going to ding me, I couldn't even appeal it.
My theory of what happened is someone saw a brand new shiny dot foods trailer and wanted an easy pay day. The street it happened on is in the city of paramount ca whic is literally next to compton, ca. Yes that compton so you know that city is full of honest outstanding citizens who would never dare tell a lie.
Long story short, I would give the op the benefit of the doubt.Velli, Big Don, AtticusRoad and 8 others Thank this. -
