I just got hired on to another company that starts on monday. Going to break the news to my current company tomorrow.

Im currently under a load but the trailer is at a dropyard and the truck is at a terminal. Truck is waiting on repairs and load will be late no matter what happens. Is this a bad thing or am i doing it right by leaving all the equipment on company property?

Not best case by any stretch, but far better than leaving it at a truck stop

Not the worst way, but it would be better if you could deliver the load before you walked away.

You should deliver the load first. They could hit you with load abandonment.

FireLotus, mpm and tow614 Thank this.

Since you asked, i would say bad thing.Normally-if it's a transition to better yourself n your not in a all out war because they FORCE you to do bad things(had to throw that in there)-Respectfully you give a 2 week notice. Not 4 days notice and while under a load(no butts-you said-under a load).
Doesnt make you a bad person.Ive done it(never under a load).
Just hope your new employer remembers that when you joined their team, you gave 4 days notice while under a load.
Something you probably wont find in your file.
Regardless, good luck on your new venture!

    FireLotus Thanks this.

Ask your new employer if they are willing to give you some time to finish your load first.
Then go to your current employer and let them know you are leaving with an option to complete the route (assuming your new job gives you the extra time).

I wouldn't burn any bridges before jumping ship. But that's just me.

If it is an there is OK but if you have a load dispatch to you you may get hit on your dock report

Would you want that to be done to you?
