Talk to Schneider about tanker school. Sometimes Schneider will pay for private cdl school then send you to their tanker school. South Carolina is a good state for tanker work because it's a coastal state and close to Savannah,GA which is loaded with tanker companies.
    There's also:
Millis Transfer - school in Eden,NC
Contract Freighters Inc. - pays for private cdl school
    Wil-Trans - school in Springfield,MO
Jim Palmer Trucking - school in Missoula,MT
    Roehl Transport
All these provide transportation to the school plus lodging and meals while attending cdl classes.

If you want a local job why don't you do that instead of signing up with an Otr company.Talk to some schools see if they work with local jobs.Dont know where in S.C. You are, but there's a lot of local jobs around Greenville or if you live close to Charlotte.I know there's a school in richburg or a community college in your area are usually best.

Bottling plants and beverage companies are hiring.

Ready mix Concrete is another area to look into.

You don't have to go OTR to gai experience.

Some factories and plants need A yard jockey. Try all areas you can before going with a OTR company. OTR sucks if you ask me

I'm trying to figure out where the companies get these government grants, I would open a school if I could capture that money because it seems easy money.

If you have the capacity to educate a group of ppl about fmcsa rules along with how to drive. And have an area for this to be done at FED standards. Then you too can have one of the many govt funded trucking schools.

But grant writers charge for there services. And if you wou like to prepare to write the govt for a grant. You would have to do more then say hey I need some $$$ for my trucking school. But this is the reason why there are so many trucking schools or trucking companies with a cdl school program.

If you've notice in the past, whenever there is a so called shortage in one field. There comes a major push in advertising of said field. You've had this in the past with nursing, teachers, welding, and so on. And now it's
    Trucking.

But the schools rush ppl thru because the more that graduate
the more money they get. So then there are drivers out here that are poorly trained. And can't read a map. So the companies are now getting auto trucks with GPS in them.

I don't think they get the money people think they do. Look at any of the publicly traded companies, none of them list it, and they are required by law to list the grants they receive, as they are not guaranteed and could effect the value of the company at a later date. I did a search and no one has been able to reference a real document from either the Government or a Company showing any payments. Pell Grants are only issued to individuals, that knocks companies out of those, WIOA Grants are issued at the County or City level and you must be a resident, which knocks the companies out of that. The only thing left is Federal Education Grant, which is again an individual loan, and companies are not eligible. Anyone have a credible link to the data on which companies get the funding, and how much per student they get?
