Picked up in Denver for North Platte, it's a drop and hook there, then with the empty back to the yard.
My loading appointment was 14:00, wasted a half day
And I can't drop till one minute after midnight, so I drop the trailer in the morning.
What I don't understand, dispatch knows since Monday morning that I will be empty Wednesday night.
I called Tuesday morning that they line up a load for me for Thursday morning, then I can be on the yard in the evening, reset my hrs and leave on Saturday morning. Answer from dispatch on Tuesday, it's still two days till Thursday. o_O
I don't get it, they can't plan ahead two or three days
Will have to run on recaps next week, I don't like that, not having full hrs each day.

This will be my last picture of my dinner, don't want to make you guys too hungry ;)

Today's dinner, Frikadellen (German Style Meatballs) with Green Beans and Pasta

We have the same problem in this company. Think it has to do with load boards, and not wanting to commit, JIC you have problems getting unloaded. Nothing makes a company madder, or look bad, than having to give a load back.

On that note, been out here a couple of months now and time to take a break. Always take off the week before Memorial Day, to decorate graves.

The Kraut, bzinger, Vic Firth and 4 others Thank this.

The company I delivered is not the problem, we deliver there all the time, when I was there on Wednesday we were three trucks. And not one had a load in the morning, all were empty early enough to pick up in the morning.

When I was at the yard today, I called shipping at the plant and surprise, my load to L.A. was already done :)
Picked up my trailer and scaled, way too heavy on the tandems for Cali, 36100. To make it legal I had to slide axles 2.5 feet over the 40 foot mark, that's definitely too much.
Went back to the plant to rework the load, got a door immediately and they were pretty fast with unloading and loading. Back to the scale and still too much, 34860, back to the plant but now I had to wait, no door available.
Got a door after a while and it took longer this time, they had to load all pallets sideways. After they were done, I was finally legal on the tandems, gross 80420, not a problem with the APU and I had full fuel tanks.
When I enter Cali I will be legal
No problems with the first weigh station near Lincoln, got a green light on my PrePass
Running on recaps is now a pain, have left 9:45 for tomorrow and get back 11:15 on Sunday.
But will make it to L.A. on Monday morning 07:00 on time.

bzinger, Shock Therapy and motocross25 Thank this.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but what does loading the pallets sidewsys do to help change the weight?

bzinger and The Kraut Thank this.

The pallets are a bit shorter sideways, you save a few inches with each pallet in the total length to the end of the trailer. This moves the weight forward in the trailer. Pallet size 48 x 40, if you load them the long way i.e. 10 x 48 = 480 inches, load them sideways 10 x 40 = 400 inches.
Same weight is now on 400 inches, you save 80 inches. Or you load them chimney block, the left long, the right sideways, then the left sideways and the right long, that's 48 + 40 = 88, with 20 pallets you have a total length of 440 inches, you saved 40 inches in the total length.
This all moves the weight forward in the trailer.
How it was loaded the weight at the 40 ft mark was 36100, after the second rework the weight was 33600 at the 40 ft mark. Slided the axles one hole forward and it was at 34040 on the tandems and 34280 on the drives.
Loading them sideways moved 2460 pounds forward to the drives.
