So I work for Schneider. Recently they forced me to have a sleep study done and I was told I have sleep apnea. The doc have gave me a machine and told me Schneider would be watching/monitoring how much I use it, how often I sleep, how much I sleep, ECT ECT.

This feels like such a drastic violation of privacy. They shouldn't be allowed to essentially "watch" me sleep. It feels like this should be illegal.

Ive only had it for a couple days and didn't use it over the weekend so today I got a call from one of the people watching me and saying "hey, we noticed you haven't been using your machine" and I'm like yeah! That's exactly why.

They shut me down and won't let me run until I use it tonight.

Now honestly, it's not about having sleep apnea, it's not about needing that machine. If it was my own choice I would use it with no fuss because I'm adult and I do adult things.

But that's not the case and I am not okay with this. Is this what every company is like? Literally watching every single second of your day down to the minutes you sleep? Violating your medical and personal privacy like this under the guise of being "safety first"?

Or are there actually company's out there who treat you like a responsible adult that can take care of your own medical needs?

I just cant stay with a company like this.

Some companies don't even check for sleep apnea. If your medical card still has a few months left on it, some companies don't even require a new physical. They just check your blood pressure, drug test, and hit the road.
Where is your home location; state and nearest city? Maybe someone on here knows of some decent companies to check.

Can it be used while driving? I mean it must log so many hours a day of being used, why not use it while awake, or would they know that?

If the machine logs time stamps on the hours used, they could match it with his elogs and know he's not using it during sleep.

They would know. Breathing patterns and heart rates change when you sleep and it's easy to tell the difference. But even so it's not about trying to trick them. They're "requiring" me to wear it 4 hours a day but they shouldn't be allowed to monitor my Usage and sleep patterns like that anyway you know?

I'd advise that you either just use it every day or go find another job. I certainly wouldn't want some company monitoring me like I'm on parole even when I'm not working...

They dont watch you sleep. The machine has a chip that records your sleeping patterns. They are checking to male sure you are compliant. When you wake up you hit a button to send them the results.

Well that's what I'm trying to do. I feel the same way. I just want to know which companies to stay clear from and which ones actually treat you like a responsible adult and don't play the "big brother" bs.
