I tried a small outfit and got burned. Been home for 2 months doing some long overdue remodeling of my home I built in 1987. Been good to be on my feet some instead of perpetually on my butt. Decided to take the day off today and start snooping a bit.

Well, my vacation has had a nice start...
Getting inside remodeling projects going and this evening tornados have hit the area hard...

    Power out all evening ...
    Tree down across my driveway...
Winds so hard it picked up my 150lb. Ceramic smoker and dropped it across my porch..

Going to have a full day tomorrow cleaning up.

Surveying the damage this morning...and what a mess.. could be worse...
    F1 tornado came through...

Last year I had all my trees removed due to concern they would blow over and damage my neighbors property since he was down wind of my place.
Unfortunately the neighbor directly up wind of me is a retired doctor from west Texas and loves trees because he didn't have them.
Well now they are huge and he wont trim them and guess what.
I have trees down over my driveway,my yard is full of his limbs and this guy is old and grumpy and can't even leave his house now. I get to clean up the mess.
Taking a day away from my remodeling projects to mess with this crap....
    Grrrr...

    Tried this last fall..
Took vacation to start the remodel and when I get home wasn't feeling well. Went to doctor to find I had pneumonia and put on bed rest.

That reminds me of a joke that kinda fits your situation.

A guy walks into the doctors office and says "doc, my arm hurts when I do 'this' "....the doctor replies "well, don't do that then"...maybe someone is telling you not to do the remodel on your vacation...:)...I mean, you said a while back, you were hoping to retire in the not too distant future, and you're gonna need something to keep you busy (and to keep from driving the wife nuts if your home life is anything like mine)...relax on the vacation, work on the retirement....:p

How many wives will let that happen? Mine sure tries to keep me moving most of the time. I finally decided this afternoon was mine. Of course after helping to plant two more rose bushes.

I am coming along a little at a time....
I can actually see the finish line on the first bathroom at least. Now that i am finishing it I can see steps to take to reduce time from here on.
Problem is my body cannot sustain long bouts of physical labor anymore...
I work for an hour or so and take a break...

But at least the demolition part is complete...
Flooring lined out and painting halfway done...

Should have it finished tonight and start on second one...

    On a side note...
It is amazing how none of my kids can be located when there is work to be done...

Bumper, drvrtech77 and truckerman75103 Thank this.

My Son-in-law did all my addition's drywall, including texturing...and was on my roof with my son and I last summer replacing the back half of our old roof with new wood and then metal...I thought about adopting him and making him my 2nd son...but then my daughter would be married to her brother...and since we don't live in Arkansas or Kentucky...that wouldn't be legal...:laughing-guffaw:(I'm kidding)
