That is like comparing apples to oranges. LP is a bad idea period. People get a misguided illusion regarding how trucking really works. The carriers take advantage of the Fleece purchase.

There is nothing wrong with being a company driver. In fact the best companies you will find out there will not spam the truck stops with all their advertisements! That is because these companies do not have a huge turn over and they keep their drivers. In stead of wanting to play pretend owner operator look for these companies. They are out there.

People do LPs for 3 reasons
    1. Their credit sucks. In which case you should not be in business. Work and repair your credit first. Its not that hard

    2. People don't have the money. In which case again you should not be in business. Work and build up some capacity.

    3. People think being an LP is a magic bullet that will send them to the road to riches. They have no clue what is going on. They depend on forums, recruiters and lunch counter BS to get their information. They refuse to objectively investigate what they are getting into. They do not want to do the hard work. These people have shiney truck syndrome.

I can tell you that being an owner operator is like having to feed a seven headed hydra.

Take a look at your own finances right now. Can you afford a tow bill for your truck and repairs? Can you afford a full set of drive tires? Can you survive if your truck is in the shop for a week? Can you afford any of this on your own right now?

<back hands people in the forum that need it> Snap out of it, think about what you are doing man!!!

Ask them to send you one. Any carrier worth their salt should have no problem letting you see their contracts. If they refuse.....scratch them off your list.

Ask them to e-mail it to you.

If they e-mail it to you take the contract to a trucking attorney or allow OOIDA to look it over for you. Dont rely on your friends or trucking buddies, get professional advise.

RTI did not do well by me. They have great promises and I tried my first and only lease purchase with them. I do not sit, I want as many miles as I can get. I stayed out over a month at a time and they could not get me miles. I have never sat so much in my 12 years of driving. When I quit, I left on good terms, and they were extremely nice but it has been 3 months and I still am calling them asking for my last 4 trips pay. They got the fuel but have yet to pay me my end. I still have received nothing from my escrows also. I managed to get in contact with somebody, finally, and they said they would send it. 1 month later I don't think they are sending it. Please read your contract as there is also a $1400 early fee to terminate your lease. I still have some after this fee but as they said "sue" and we live in NC. They were not honest and then when I asked for my pay on a daily basis nobody was available to take my calls. I now am in a local driving job in which I get more money and more miles. Please don't let them take you for a ride! This is a honest review as to help somebody that is thinking it's going to be something that it isn't!

Good luck .. I dont know any info on them just heard how most l/p never turns out good i know a guy at prime that is doing one and only took hm $700 for 3300 miles tell me something is not right . You pay for the truck and have all maintance and pay crazy payment just really high and make less then a company driver makes no sense . Oh then taxs on $700 you really only take hm $600 maybe . My drivers do 3000 miles and make $1350 or more so lp not worth it ....Dm i tell you were i get my trucks at and not much down . I hate seeing these trucking companys ripping off ppl cause it is set up to fail in my cases , Trucking not same no more just sad

And I know a guy that pulled $1500/3000 miles a week on his lease. Some people know what their doing, some don't ... a lease doesn't discriminate - it rewards those who can and destroys those who can't.

Look.....a carrier LP is never worth it. All the LP drivers do is see a pretty truck, and the carrier jungles keys in front of them. First of all its is not a matter of "who can and who cannot." Understand this first. You are not in control! You dont pick loads....the carrier allows you to see loads that they want you to pull. You have no right to the asset (the truck). I cant begin to tell you how insanely bad this is to do an LP.

The dog whistles carriers use on prospective suckers...I mean LP drivers are "LP...you are paying for YOUR truck" and "You have a business" and my favorite...."you now own your own trucking company." This is an out and out medicine show style sucker move. And the drivers fall for it lock stock and barrel. They eat it up. Yum Yum.

The carrier loves to make you have the illusion that you are in control, and that you are actually have a truck you are paying off. You are not. Even the recent lawsuits against fleece purchase carriers and port carriers bore this out.

DO the hard work. Stop the teenager type urge to have instant gratification by an uncontrollable need to have a truck. The truck is just a tool. Take away the truck from a fleece purchase driver and just have a conversation about the trucking business (not the truck) and their eyes glaze over. They dont know ANYTHING!

Look, I cant stop people from making bad decisions. The only thing I can do is warn and counsel people. If people want to play "fantasy island trucking" be my guest. Knock yourself out. But dont try to bait or drag other people to follow you down the rabbit hole.

If your only making $1500 take hm with lp not worth it , think taxs, repairs ,repairs again, by time all sat aside your making company driver wages not worth it one truck repair was $4,000, a week later another 3,800 so stay in company roll . If you cant say when you go home your a company driver . You cant even do up grades to truck its not your

Such negativity. It all depends on the company that you are leased to as far as answers to your questions. I am in a lease with a great company. My truck is down right now and they got me a rental, no charge, I am still running. I was towed. They covered that and charged it back to KW since I was just there for repairs that they said was done and it was not. What works for one, might not work for another, and BTW, I was also in a lease with Swift, and they do take care of their drivers there. I left because of changes going on
