The way you can pick your freight in Mercers system the extra cost will never justify the price. You justify the price thru pride of ownership and a top tier all aluminum trailer holds its value like no other trailer.

Most of the successful guys at Mercer that have these top tier aluminum trailers don't haul heavy, it gets them loaded in bad areas or when there are a lot of trucks. Heavy is usually some of the cheapest freight there is.

What is the measurement needed when mounting a headache rack on tractor to make sure I have enough distance to clear when making a turn? And I obviously do not have a trailer available to find out that's why I am asking.

You getting a trailer from Mercer? If so i believe they are 30 inch king pins. So measure 30 inches from the center of the kingpin hole in the fifth wheel and that will tell ya where the front of the trailer is. Then add another 6 inches for the bulkhead pockets on the great dane trailers.

Yes, getting trailer from them. So your saying then it will be 3 feet ( 36 inches ) so I should be good for it to completely clear at 37 inches?

No, that won't accommodate the turn. Using quick math, if it's 36 inches to the center, and 102/2=51 inches center to the outside, then A^2+B^2=C^2. So 1296+2601=3897=C^2, C~62. So you need approximately 63 inches kingpin to headache rack

It will actually be a few inches less than that though because the pockets aren't at the corners, so rough guess, you will need 60 inches
