Did two turns last night, 4pm to 5am. Not enough time left over to preload for tonight, so I'll only have time for 1. Probably head over to the rack around 8ish and finish up around 4.

The key for me now is to avoid tarping. That's real hard to do, actually. Even a lot of the equipment haulers do back hauls of drywall or lumber or bagged whatever that requires tarping.

Securement is all about being humble enough to ask for help when you need it. After you've hauled certain things, you've got it, but there's always some load of something that is a puzzler the first time.

I've pitched a few tarps in my moments...but I agree. The securement is something I'm going to have to give myself a "crash course" of 3 months on, if I decide to do this. You are correct, though. 17 years behind a wheel, not counting my trash route, asking for help . . . . Then again, I'm not a show off kind of guy, anyway. Just kinda weird that two people put this in my "lap" for a better choice of words. I'm just in the Hmmmmm mode, atm. May pm you.
    Thanks, for sure.

Really broad question here but what pays better usually? I like tanker work but have always wondered about flat bed and eventually heavy haul. I hear if you can get into a construction company that's union and move their cranes and machinery you got it made.

Key word there, is IF. It's usually "invitation only." Trust me on that. I've just recently got a call from ATS and have no clue how they found me. H/H company.
Basic flatbed pays about the same as where "we" are... I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, big guys.
Tank pays rather well, and if "your" gig isn't the best atm; you can get on with a "better" one, at any point in time, with experience.
As far as union, no clue. Ask @Chinatown. From what I hear (and know) .... you can get into H/H with just the safe years/miles/experience ... and doesn't have to be flatbed.
Anyone, correct me if "I'm" wrong, as well.

Yeah I figure it would be hard to get into one of those jobs.

I was just wondering, I love my job now. 3 person company with me and another driver and a dude in the office. It's just 3 bros running a small business with very little rules other than don't break stuff and get what has to be done done. I feel pretty lucky to have found this job especially with only 3 months experience prior.

Kinda like where I work. Stay awhile, man. Gain the experience. I've been in the "small guy" fleet for almost 7 years. That's the stuff the "big guys" will look at. Especially, being a tank yank instead of a "boxer" of some sort, will definitely give you some credo.

Oh yeah, I'm riding it out. It's growing for sure being that I haul def. I deliver oil and coolant too but since def has picked up I'm mostly doing all tanker work now. My boss already gave me the word I'm going to be strictly tanker like I asked for once the demand is there and they will hire someone else to do oil and coolant.

I don't like big companies. Before driving I was cooking and always worked for tiny places, I don't like rules other than have some common sense. I don't need the micromanaging.
