While that may be true for many of us, he lives in the middle of nowhere (sorry @road_runner ). So even though he could easily get another job, he probably has limited options in his area for a home-nightly, well-paying gig.

Also, the carriers with better management and working conditions probably don't have the same driver retention problems, so his chances of making a lateral move to a better company are probably even more unlikely.

he has to act like he could leave.

And Bozeman is the 4th biggest city in Montana. (ok, that's not that big, but still)

    Diversified transfer services
    Mergenthaler
FXG (runs in reverse to Billings and then back every night)

just off the top of my head.

    There are tons of jobs

but that requires the risk willing to leave.
So, either you are willing to take the beatings, or you man up and say "nope, not doing it. Either fire me (which is almost impossible in Montana, i'ts not a at will state) or find someone else.

    Not my muthafudgingproblem

But they know they can abuse him so they do.

have to learn to say no

That's the problem. I am in the middle of nowhere. Thirty miles to the nearest town. Transportation isn't the big industry here. Agriculture, medical, software development, and construction have all the demand. Construction is seasonal with no benefits. Agriculture pays crap because they are seasonal and don't even require a CDL.

On a side note... Our #2 highest ranking driver put in his two weeks. I am now the 3rd highest ranking person in the barn. Sounds good but there are only four of us left, only three of us can drive.

We already have one relieve driver from another terminal. now they are going to have to find two.. Yeah....no wonder everyone was so nice to me this morning.

I'd do it, IF it's a linehaul run or something going to my territory. I'm not taking a straight truck to a strange area on a Saturday with 14 residentials while some new guy gets a linehaul run. That will NEVER happen a second time.

14 residential on a Saturday? #### that! Last time I worked on Saturday it was a ####ing convention delivery. I HATE convention freight. Freeman and GES can choke on a couple of fat schlongs and die.

Well I can see we're all having a craptastic week. Actually my work week was fine, pay check for last week was a little light, but that's normal for summer, always get a couple light ones. In about a couple of weeks here it's going to start heating up which is fine by me 700-900 count trailers will be fine by me, I need to get new breaks for my car!
