Now with HL for 6 months and had about enough. Drive 70 hours a week, 500-600 miles daily and being told when I go home on the weekend I have to drive again in 34 hours. Some drivers are not welcome at Chester Virginia terminal. Managers that never drove trucks. I've never gotten a call to ask if HL can be of any assistance to me.

Really you don't like that new gimmick of home for your 34. I bet they start counting as soon as you go to off duty too.

From what I've seen of heartland..... and the actions of some of their drivers that I witnessed....that company is another bottom feeder to me..when their recruiter called me repeatedly trying to sell the .56 a mile pay and other "selling points" and bragging about the purchase of Gordon, at first I started to become a bit suspicious..... my caller I. D. shown a location that wasn't anywhere near heartland's terminals, he admitted he just worked out of his house.....then when pressed about length of haul, miles per week, whether it was regional or OTR, "why would you want to know that?".. when I get evasive answers like that, and attempts to bait and switch, the deal is off. I've been to a couple of companies where I went in signed up as OTR and those outfits had me doing nothing but regional even though I was required to be out at least 3 weeks....plus the guy would just tell me it was mostly short over night loads but would avoid the miles per week question.....that's when I said no thanks and hung up. I've had my experiences with mega-size companies and never again.

The short runs pay more, but the driver paid by the mile doesn't do so well
....this is another good reason all company drivers should be paid on the clock, especially when the e-logs kick in.
There's too much the driver is not getting paid for in this industry

This post just seems like a lie to me. For one I'm pretty sure the top pay is .52 a mile. For two even if you aren't lying about the pay you are certainly lying about the the recruiter not committing to tell you about mileage. That pay would have required you to be an all 48 driver which is 4 weeks out and guaranteed 2500 miles a week. Thirdly I've never heard of any of their employees working from home. Even the guys working at 3:00 am are always staffing the office.

So either you are full of #### or maybe you spoke to one of those outsourced recruiters who isn't actually employed by heartland but is paid by them to bring in drivers.

Sounds like you're an office worker defending this sham of a co.

Well you'd be wrong. You could easily discern that from my very short post history. How about you actually attack the content of my post instead of trying to go after my character? I pointed out what I thought was false in his post and why. Is anyone going to contest that or you all are just too comfortable in your echo chamber?

You might want to follow your own advice...

Very lazy replies here. Why say anything if you have nothing to say? Or are you confused about the difference between me calling a post plainly false and you calling me a shill?
