    The problem is, once your body is wore out, they give you the boot and find a new 25 year old to take your spot. At least in the military, you get retirement after 20... Then medical disability if it is a service related injury.

    Saia will start an experienced linehaul driver topped out at .64cpm and 5k-7500k bonus. Pretty insane. Buddy got hired on what he started out at. Doesn't matter if benefits are free it's a big jump in the bank account. .11cpm is pretty huge jump.

    I must be because I'm 41 and have been peddling for 11 years.

    We have city guys a lot older than that. Of course, they know better than to take routes in Washington DC or northern Va.

    One thing I have learned in almost 2.5 years of P&D is I will NOT try to unload freight that is too big or heavy by myself. I am NOT going to hurt myself or have a freight damage incident because management thinks they can send me out to lift gate deliver two 20' long aluminum utility poles on one pallet. Happened yesterday- I brought that #### back.

    Coming up on 48 and still doing P&D, youngster. It's keeping me in awesome shape and looking good, so when you wonder why you're sitting alone at the end of the bar while all the hotties are on my jock...now you know. ;)

    honestly if p&d paid more id seriously consider it. it is tough to finally get a job where i'm not killing myself only to ultimately go back to it. and i won't fight you for the bar flies, no worries there :D

    I totally agree. I actually might have stayed on P&D if it didn't take 10+ years of seniority to hold an early start bid at my barn. In fact, we just had a linehaul driver jump boards because he'll be able to have "trucker banker's hours" when he gets his seniority back. Sometimes decent daytime hours are worth about 25 grand to some people.

    Good thing you did not brake or swerve to avoid that deer. We had a driver who "swerved to avoid a donkey" earlier this year while hauling doubles. You should have seen the wreck after he went through the unimproved ground between the north and south bound lanes and came to a stop in the opposite lane.
