I braked a little, but I wasn't going the lock them up over it. If you look at the zipper, the pace slowed when I saw it. I was on the phone with another one of our drivers when I said "OH #### OH #### OH #########!!!"

At $.64/mile I will buy my own insurance. That's what.. an extra $600-$800 a month depending on how far you push?

I've never had a near miss. Any and all deer encounters were a direct strike. I'll center my truck as much as I can to protect my headlights. I think in total I hit about 16 deer in four years.

I bet MTS had to clean his shorts at his next stop.

I used to count the deer on the AA in Kentucky to help me stay alert. Never hit one, but had a few close calls.

I noticed when I went to the Billings MT hub that every single truck there had HUGE brush guards on them, all tied in to the frame, none of these little ones that mostly decorative and sacrificial

they take hitting deer pretty darn seriously in MT

I hit a deer on a bike too (in Montana no less) years ago. Getting on a on ramp and all of a sudden I can't steer (night time, leaned over). WTF? get it stopped My buddy comes up "put the kickstand down" What? "put the kickstand down"
    ok
    "you hit a deer"
no $h*t?????????? (as I jump off the bike, my buddy was pretty smart)

    sure enough
check it out, good enough to keep going, so rode the 600 miles home.
broke some plastic, ####ed up the front and scratched up the wheels.

the deer jumped over the guardrail on the on ramp so his head was low and I hit him low.
    I didn't even go down

lucky lucky lucky. (well for me, deer died)

    Lucky for you is right.

I did go down unfortunately. It was a lay down though, so it could've been worse.

Don't you have bigger critters than deer in MT?

well here in Colorado we have elk (lots), deer (lots), antelope (lots), cows (lots), bison (lots) sheep (lots), black bears, and moose (some)

elk, moose, cows, bison and bears will mess your #### up

Montana also has grizzlies, which are not small.

You're both very luck riders. A deer is what killed my uncle, several years ago, on the Fourth of July weekend. He had been riding alone, at night, when he hit it with his Harley.

    Mike2633 and kimbosa Thank this.
