Student got back to me, running solo.
'17 Cascadia Condo automatic capped at 58, both on cruise & pedal.
I stand corrected on current status quo.

Had a new guy in line up in Salt Lake, obviously out to impress on his new job. ( Nothing wrong with that, but........).
Got me trapped 2 different times for innocuous repairs on trailers.
If I have the time, no problem. But, when under load & pressed for time.......aggravating, to say the least.
Haven't seen him anymore last few times in. So, guess that ambition didn't work out to well. LOL

False, as a company driver myself, I can assure you have the choice between condo or lightweight, regardless of whether you plan to bring spouse or other along. However, going lightweight comes with incentives both financial and easier maneuverability in tight spaces, which comes in handy for new drivers. There are many falsehoods out there regarding various companies, this seems to be a common one for Prime.

Technically, company trucks are 58 on pedal, 62 on cruise and lease trucks are 65 either way.
-
They currently have some standards still, mine is, however they are transitioning to a fully automatic fleet. Likely to take another year or 2 to be fully implemented.

Actually, the newer generation of automatics are quite good. Many longtime drivers who swore to never drive them have fallen in love after giving them a shot. Are you an actual driver currently or just spouting about things you know nothing about?albert l and FullMetalJacket Thank this.

Well, I got my first company truck beginning of August 2016, has been 58 pedal, 62 cruise since I've had it. Many drivers that have been there longer say it's been same for them.....FullMetalJacket Thanks this.

I am willing to bet this student is simply unaware of the ability to increase speed once cruise is setFullMetalJacket Thanks this.

Just be aware, I have spoken to 3 recruiters in the past 2 weeks, all of them said I had to take a lightweight, and would not be issued a condo. I know better, but I think they are reading from a scripts of some sort. Would be nice if they were on the same page. Misconception, yes, but it is self inflicted.FullMetalJacket Thanks this.

Thought that quite possible myself. He said no, the fastest he can run on either is 58. Surprised & shocked me, too. He runs cruise almost exclusively, whenever possible.
Now, normally he does run slow by choice. Always 55-57. But, adamant it is set max on both at 58.
Just a small nugget for anyone following. His LONG TERM fuel milage is 9.6mpg. One explanation for why he is always at max fuel bonus & top of his fleet rank in mpg.
