The cops would just love that if they see it.
The told all the drivers to start at 7 today, so that means 2 hours earlier for some. Problem is, they told the dock crew to start LATER.
That certainly makes a lot of sense.![]()

The tires are split between multiple stores that belong to the same chain. All of them have a back alley that can't be blocked unattended since that alley receives very heavy truck traffic.
So back to my story from earlier. We were supposed to have a morning guy tackle the freight from last week while two noon drivers (the cavalry) systematically distributed two triples to 25 customers each. Then by midday, a fourth driver was supposed to come in with an empty and snag all the pickups so that we would all be back to the barn by 1700.
Here is what ended up happening. The morning guy never got sent since he never existed. That was just a made up position that wasn't filled.
Cavalry came in guns blazing at noon. Except it was just me and nobody else. I tackled the freight from last week and got half of the crap delivered that I was supposed to for this week.
Our late guy was also a no show since that was another made up position with no one available to fill it. I was stuck doing pickups. I didn't get in at five or even six PM... That is when I finally took my lunch after 11 hours.
I clocked out at 8 PM just like the last two months and we are still behind.thekidsixer and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I have no idea who sent me this. Return address is MD. Guessing it was possibly @MACK E-6 or someone else from that area.
Someone spent a ton of time (and $8 in postage) to send me 13 new company pro stickers. I was gonna do a nice small frame but I have so many of them now that I will have to get a poster board.
Holy crap.. thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!misterG, Mike2633, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Two weeks ago I asked for ONE day off to take my wife to get some minor surgery. It is not a big deal, but she is pregnant, inherently scared, and unable to drive home.
My companies response is that my day off is contingent on freight volume and my day off can be yanked the day prior or the day off.
Freight comes first. Have her come up with alternate arrangements to get back home. Maybe her parents can pick her up, or whatever. The freight has to come first though... we got a ton of money riding on these accounts and we don't have enough people to spare cause your wife needs a medical procedure.
Not gonna make her walk home. We live 32 miles away from the clinic.
This is my final straw. I am obviously not respected as a person or a driver anymore. I now have to chose between the well being of my wife vs Home Depot getting their stoves on time. There is not other way to put it other than choosing my real life over my work life.
It is one unpaid day I need. Second instance in five years and they say "sure, maybe IF we got enough people to cover you".Last edited: Aug 22, 2017
