When we ran team otr we showered a minimum of every other day. Never more than 2 days without shower. Always rolling resets. We cooked in truck. We ran 5500-6500 miles 7 days a week.

Now at ltl team we ran 6250 - 7000+ in 5-5.25 days and still showered like every day.

Now solo day cabbing it I shower at least one a day in a hotel or home.

Each driver should only put in 75 to 85 gallons more or less. While one driver is pre-tripping/ fueling, the other driver is in taking a shower while the other driver is circling the parking lot or parked somewhere off to the side waiting. Then when their shift is over the next driver is pre-tripping fueling and the other driver is taking their shower see. As far as laundry, just throw a load in the washer on the way to the shower, on the way out the shower, throw the clothes in the dryer and walk back to the truck and take care of whatever ticky tack things then go get the dry clothes and get back on the road. You can also protect your time by showing more On Duty time which will come off your 70 to build in some relief once in a while.

OP .. Are you doing mainly coast to coast? Produce? Not that it matters, based on the consistent miles your stating. But regardless, they CAN add in time between loads. They just don't want to. Probably some sort of dispatch bonus at work. You're making somebody gravy money (new Mercedes every year) for every mile over 5,000/week you guys run. You guys are somebody's soulless cash cow. Screw that.

That makes it easy. If it's already 4 hours late, another hour to stop and shower and grab a bite will not matter....

Is the dispatcher your accountant? How the hell does he know what you can and can't afford? If the COMPANY can't afford it then they need to do something about it, not you. This doesn't sound like any way to live to me. How much do you make per mile as a team? Hope it's 80+cpm to the truck for the amount of stress you're under.

Now things are starting to make more sense. This is life in the LTL supplement world. Yes, it really does absolutely, positively have to be there by such and such time because that's when their service agreement [to customers] says it will be there and it has to be on the cross-dock when it has to be at the cross-dock to make it onto the last-mile truck. You guys get the over-capacity stuff that is already bordering on being late before it ever get's handed off to your company for them to save their bacon because their company teams will not put up with that crap. And you're company is much cheaper than air and if you hurry, it won't need air.

I suspect you're going to have to seek out another company. Lots of outfits looking for good teams that don't involve themselves in the freight you're doing now.
