OK So we are back to the HUGE issue of "HERE" and thier annoying slow attitude to update information that we as drivers depend on daily. and im not talking about just small town roads. I have seen mistakes on interstates, Country Roads, State routes, you name it there are errors. to many to honestly keep track of constantly.
Im curious, how many reported corrections come into RM daily from drivers reporting? Now i know there is a percentage of them that are incorrect, but how many? that would give anyone an idea as to just how far behind and or off "HERE" is.
Here is another error i came across today.
RT9 Poughkeespie NY. i was coming from Kingston NY going to 5 Laurel St, Poughkeepsie NY.
Thank god i live up here and knwo the roads or i probably would have been the one of the guys taking the RM back to best buy after this one.
First I'm coming South on 9G, It has me cut across Dorsey Ln (40A) which is correct and go south onto RT9. then it went screwy.
I don't remember exactly but i believe it wanted me to turn on to Fulton to go BACK on rt 9G South to go down to Rt 55 and then i believe it wanted me to go back onto Rt 9. this route puts me in the center of Poughkeepsie and on small roads that are hard to turn on IF there are no cars.
    WHY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went straight on Rt 9 to Laurel St. turned Left and there is #5 Laurel St right in front of me.
On top of this I get a low bridge warning when i get off Laurel St from Rt9 ????????
Then when i left i went Straight up Rt 9 North exactly the way I came down
AND I GET A LOW BRIDGE warning on RT 9 NOW !!!!!!!!!!! - Didn't get that one going South.
Rt 9 in Poughkeepsie hasn't changed a square inch in 10 years at least.
and the first way South bound that the RM was trying to send me, would have gotten a 53ft stuck with no place to go.
NOW honestly, in lets say 2 years, drivers have not sent in the map issues here? and yet they are still not fixed.
and this is part routing, which is HERE and part restriction errors, which is in house and should be quarterly. So how many more quarters to fix something that never existed?

As for Leggs Mills Road - here try this address:
    173 Leggs Mills Rd
Lake Katrine, NY 12449 - it will get you on the map. The reason I wouldn't always go onto 209 to i87, is if im going NB, thats
actually going South, to come North where as I can run up Leggs Mills road to Old Kings Highway to Rt 2121 and get on the i87 there.
And the Leggs Mills Rd Weigfht Restriction - which you said is in house- was changed @ 3 yerars ago, so where is the
    quarterly update on that one?

Ok as for the Ex73 issue - Lets assume MY RM has a glitch, how do we figure it out? because ill be ###### if it didn't try to send me some weird ### way. and thats not the first time i have noticed it.

Don't get me wrong Here Mark - I think the 740 COULD BE a fantastic product and RM good jump 2 steps ahead of the competition here, and im not pointing the finger at you either, i know this isnt your dept, But ####, RM has all the info right at their finger tips. Input and corrections are coming in every day from everywhere. You can't tell me there isn't a better - faster way for RM to improve its mapping and, routing info where they can get correct information out there in a realistic time frame? not a year after the fact (or in some cases 2-3-4 yrs??) its Obvious that HERE is NOT the best supplier of info. its a base, RM has ALL the updated info it should ever need. Why give it back to HERE so they can sit on it for 2 yrs? Why not verify it in house, and put out the update?
Now Suddenly RM just knocked the competition down a flight of stairs. while they are waiting for a 2 yr old update from HERE, RM has the Updated Map and route every quarter - WOW. You already are at least partially verifing info in house ------- SO ??

    > Sorry if said Rt32
I meant 9W and turn Left on to Leggs mills rd onto Old Kings Highway which is also CR31
there is a weight restriction on Leggs Mill Road and i think also on CR31
Both were removed @ 3yrs ago when they redid the bridges
I have been sending in the corrections now for @ 8 months, still no update

I just moved into a 2018 International LT and it has an in dash Randy McNally GPS unit. It also has elog capabilities. I was told that at some point in the future it would have an elog program similar to our Peoplenet units in our other trucks.

Is this possible or is someone pulling my fifth wheel??

    Thanks.

Mark, you still doing this? Man, outstanding support. A real good recommendation for RM units.

Hey Mark, I'm thinking about moving to the Overdryve 7 inch. Is there any difference between the 7 and 8 inch units other than size?

Also, has Rand fixed the ETA bug involving states with split speed limits? I started with a TND in 2012, and now currently have the 8 Inch tablet, and every one of them when you go into states like California where there is a split speed, the ETA is WAYYYY off. Plot a trip between Needles and Barstow and do the manual math on the ETA and it expects a speed of around 62. I know the "Solution" to this is to increase/decrease the ETA but then the states AROUND would be incorrect.

Also have there been any changes to the weather information provided to the unit, like options to get actual severe alerts and advisories to the device? On the map?

Last question, is the traffic the same? Where you kind of have to "Find the traffic" instead of it alerting you of it ahead of time?

Sorry if this has been covered before, I looked but did not see it. Is there no way to set a maximum truck speed on the 740 unit like you could on some previous models? Tried to fing it and couldn't, looked thru manual on line and didn't see anything specific about ot but also didn't figure it would be something that was done away with either.

I don't know how late this is but I was browsing the behind glass stuff at a TA and saw they have a 5 inch version of the 740 now.

HERE is bigger than you think. It is not a simple matter of just putting in roads and restrictions. Map data is complicated. The issues that are turned in are verified against the next set of maps to be released, but this takes time and manpower. If the issue needs correcting then we submit to HERE. You can submit to HERE if you wish via their website.

Put that route in again and see if you are routed on exit 73 or not.

I gave the two issues to the GIS department to look at.

    Thanks,
    Mark
