i'm seriously considering moving to create soon. I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. I have talked to many drivers out there, asked them how they like driving for Crete, and they all pipe up instantly and say "I love it. It's great. Best company I've ever worked for." Or something along those lines.
One specific question I have is that I've heard you don't get out west much at Crete. Is that true? Why?

Go with a company that has lots of west coast freight.
Danny Herman Trucking has a terminal in Calexico,California and is headquartered in Mountain City,Tennessee. They run to Southern California a lot.
Navajo Express has a facility in Chino,California.
Freymiller runs coast to coast.
Melton Truck Lines
System Transport
Calex Logistics hauls produce out of California.
Dynamic Transit headquartered in St. Louis and has a terminal in Los Angeles.
Jones Bros. Trucking in Missoula,Montana runs all over the west coast and also runs coast to coast.Steel Dragon, rabbiporkchop and csmith1281 Thank this. -
So would you say is true that Prime doesn't run out west?Steel Dragon Thanks this.
-
They run out there, but don't know how often if your domicile isn't in California.
One of their drivers goes there often, but he pulls tankers for Prime and lives in Texas.
Prime runs 48 states, but may not have regular freight lanes in all of them.
Maybe one of their drivers will post and give better information.Steel Dragon and csmith1281 Thank this. -
Prime has a terminal in Utah; maybe in Salt Lake City.Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Pulling reefer tends to have longer runs and higher potential of coast to coast type freight, depending on the company. And finding a 48 state reefer company that is headquartered on the west coast can increase your odds of getting out west even more. Of course pulling reefer also has it's own special set of drawbacks, which many people aren't willing to put up with...Steel Dragon and csmith1281 Thank this.

Crap, I meant to say Crete. So would you say Crete doesn't run out west?
-
If i remember right, Crete is headquartered in Illinois. Companies tend to be headquartered near where they got started. And because where they got started is usually the same place where where they've been operating the longest, that area is where they tend to have the most freight contracts.

You can tell where a carrier's freight is by where it's terminals are.

I don't know; maybe Shaffer Trucking runs west coast. Crete owns Shaffer Trucking. Shaffer is their refrigerated division.
What about that list I gave you of companies that do run west coast runs?
Shaffer has terminals in Salt Lake City and Phoenix, so they run west coast.
