Yes. You should get a email from your log person. If your going to be off for a period of time, you will need to either submit logs to stay in service, or call your log person and have them make a log for the time you anticipate being off!

I'd copy and paste the email for you, but I'm not sure if it's allowed.

Sometimes I don't take my truck home & I'm not making a special trip 30 miles just to send in my logs. The good thing, I guess you could call it, is if you do get put OOS as soon as you submit your logs your back in service.

This is just Mercer covering their tail concerning stupid DOT regs. This is the problem elogs will bring, more micro managing from DOT.

Legally you have 14 days to turn them in though. Or did that get changed recently with the eld mandate preparing to go into effect? I could see them saying in 10 days, but 3 seems a little quick to just be covering themselves.

This about certifying them, they aren't "legal" unless they are submitted. They haven't been bagged for it yet, and I guess they don't want to wait until they do get bagged. Copied from the email - "You should be submitting your previous day’s log(s) prior to beginning another work day. This is just like signing paper logs is the past. If you start your day without certifying and submitting and get inspected, the officer could write you."

Correct, but on hometime you haven't started a new work day. At that point, you have 14 days to get them turned in, which is submitting them in this case.

Yes, as far as I know it's still 14 days. But, this "new" policy only applies to JJ Keller. QC has a way to certify/sign your logs without submitting them but I don't think Keller does do they must be submitted to be signed.

I'm sure I've gone 3 days without submitting my logs cause I usually don't log out of the app until I go home & there are times I forget to send them in. I had the understanding that I had 14 days to submit them & I wasn't told different by anyone at Mercer until I got the email yesterday.

I'm not mad at Mercer or anything & this in itself isn't an issue. I just don't like where this is all going. Awe, heck with it. If it gets too out of hand I'll retire early. This work is really getting in the way of my fishing anyhow.

Good point. As long as you submit them before starting your first day out there shouldn't be a problem regardless of how long you've been off.

The bad news is if you are put oos you lose your board position.

Hopefully you can submit logs without being connected to the part in the truck. If i gotta go out to the truck every 3 days to submit off duty logs.. my relationship with mercer has come to an end. Its an hour from my house to the farm where the truck sits.

I forgot about losing board position!

I submit logs not connected to the truck all the time so you should be ok, unless they change that also!
