Along with no fuel costs, it includes all maintenance, batteries, full power train warranty. If the #### thing works... It's going to be a fair deal.

Let's see, driver averages 125k miles so it would be an 8 year lease. The lease would cost $62,500 a year. Pay an average wage of $50k since it's not fully "pipe dream" autonomous, and you are at $112,500. Insurance will probably be 15k-20k a year so that puts you at $130k, trailer not included.

We will ignore the fact that parts will be hard to source, Ryder will not know how to work on it like Elon promises and you have to run the freight in areas where you can recharge and re-fuel. So, essentially you will need probably 1.10-1.20 a mile to break even. Not exactly undercutting anyone, since a lot of people have those break even numbers. All you have to do is convince people to work cheaply, maybe give the keys to a student driver, and watch the money roll in,

I think that's a pretty fair analysis, except for the jump to $1.10 -$120 a mile. No other truck would be any more "autonomous" than this one.

IF IT WORKS, it should be about a dime to 20 c a mile less to operate than any other new truck. IF THE COMPANY is around to service the vehicle and supply fuel. Can you imagine the position you would be in if the company folded and you still had a legal, binding lease with the leasing company?!?! That would be a flustercluck of the highest order.....

Things that matter to me in a truck:

550 C-15 CAT (6NZ, MBN or NXS preferred)
    Conventional (Peterbilt 379 preferred)
18-speed Eaton Fuller (twin stick Spicer also acceptable)
    Heavy-duty rear end
    48-63" high-rise bunk (Unibilt preferred)

    AModelCat Thanks this.

The jump to $1.10 to $1.20 a mile was due to the increased rates on insurance, since we are talking about a $500k vehicle, and then you add cost for a trailer and maintenance to it. I may be wrong, but I would say that is pretty accurate. And it would suck to be screwed on the leasing end, you would take a financial beating on that like no other.

Got 2013 KW T660 10spd manual, APU, Espar bunk heater, mid roof double bunk sleeper. It suits me well. Only thing I would want to change is better ride comfort/air ride front axle.

The ride quality in my truck improved when I swapped the 12K springs out for 16K springs...

RTLO20918B or RTLO22918B. And 2 tone paint: no over the top paint scheme. Clean and simple.
    Perfect
