Everybody is going to take a hit. That isn't running eld's already. Wether you like it or not. Or disagree. Because you can't realize it. And it has nothing to do with running illegal. Except for those certain times that happen all too often to mess up your perfectly planned day that you all plan every day.
I know 4 companies that run cali mostly. They won't be able to maintain their current operation on elds. Without turning their trucks in to team operations. That's going to be less pay to the drivers. And a lot less sleep.Last edited: Nov 19, 2017

If you were already running legal, elds just makes things easier lol
The place I am currently at has been eld for a while, and I was glad to get off paper, and yes, there are times I miss the "flexibility" of paper, but every time you flex that log, you risk getting caught.
Oh, and you are breaking the law too lol
The hos rules need to be changed, but that is a separate issue, but the elds isn't going to hurt anyone who runs legal, and will simplify a lot of the paperwork that goes with trucking.magoo68, Highway Sailor, KANSAS TRANSIT and 5 others Thank this. -
They won't be able to maintain because Cali is impossible to work with.
Now if they went to Phoenix instead. That would be doable.
They make 2 trips out and back. Usually one night home. And home for 34 reset. Eld won't allow that luxury. They'll have to leave early Sunday morning. Won't get there one night. And won t be back till Saturday evening. With their 2 trips. Boss will have to hire full time help delivering and picking up also. -
Screw California, let that whole place fall into the Pacific when the "big one" hits.
TripleSix Thanks this. -
Babysitters fit in some aspects of trucking, and those drivers love em. I'm happy for them.
But they certainly don't fit every aspect of trucking, and are gonna make it very difficult for a lot of folks.
And, yes, before anybody starts crying, I do understand that it's an HOS problem and not the fault of the ELD. -
... here we again - the truck driving trucking enforcement cheerleaders
Tropsnart Thanks this. -
I don't run ELDs yet , but I've seen the change on the landstar load board over the past few years .
They used to schedule overnight runs over 700 miles , now maybe 500 max for overnight , all those over that went to teams .
The word must have come from above because the agents didn't do this out of the goodness of their hearts .
There was a period where they would ask you if you were on paper logs in a discrete way but ELD fan boys must have went nuts , no one even wants to know your on paper now .
All that being said , some lanes and runs are going to be severely effected and some not so muchVTech Thanks this. -
Please stop these self-rightous beliefs that on elogs, you guys are as cleaner as snow. They can be falsified, and the megas know how and tell their drivers to do it all the time.Oxbow, Crude Truckin', sealevel and 3 others Thank this.
