My front Brake have been making a bad scraping noise when stopping. I tight end the cams all the way then back them off a half turn and still making the noise. Pads have around 50k on them... Don't see anything out of the ordinary ( at least to me ) . Wondering what I should look at or have checked?

I assume you've given the pads a good looking at for cracks or rust spreading the shoe material from the steel backing plate?

    HalpinUout Thanks this.

Then don't stress it. Its probably just a small stone or dirt and dust build up. But if it ever starts making a horrible grinding noise you may want to pull the drum to have a good look at it.

If a truck has a lot of blow by would that cause smoke from the exhaust?

Yes. If the rings are shot it causes blow by due to combustion gases escaping into the crank case. It also allows oil to get into the combustion chamber and be burnt, causing the smoke out the exhaust.

Just keep in mind that there are many many things that can cause an engine to smoke. Don't jump the gun and assume the rings are shot. Check codes. Run a compression test. Etc. Typical troubleshooting things before you tear the engine down.

I don't plan on even ripping apart the engine just to replace rings. The smoke isn't to bad and i've had everything else check. Im using about 1 1/2 gallons every 15k miles but some of that is leaking out lol..
