I thought of working tonight or tomorrow morning but it would screw up my package. I need a fresh 70 to start Monday. I worked last night tho. And thursday.

And ya im at the ta. Directly across from the shop. Just give me a call when you leave 81st street. I'll be getting up pretty early to switch my body back to early mornings.

Those little solar chargers generally won't even keep a car battery fully charged. With 3 or 4 truck batteries it might get you one or two more days before they won't start your truck. If you have a disconnect switch use that, otherwise physically disconnect the cables from the batteries. Last time I drove my truck was Sep 26. First time I've looked at it since then was this evening, glad it was still there of course. Turned the master disconnect switch back on and it fired right up after sitting 60 days, no problem at all. Thinking of getting one more load in (local, of course) this year so wanted to make sure it starts.

I've been considering UPS popup loads that come out of several locations all within 50 miles of me, just don't like the hours they allow, especially for some of the routes. Runs into New England that on the schedule posted on the load board require a 60mph AVERAGE speed door to door and much of the route is only 55mph, and in several places less. No thank you. So far I haven't seen any I'll accept. Or, I'll just let the ELD do it's part and say sorry, out of hours. Never has bothered me to do that, way before ELD's came along, so it won't bother me now. Might be they only let me do one UPS load before I get banned! I'm sure I've been thrown out of better places. I guess guys with paper logs will be in high demand as usual for UPS.

Mine are tight, but they aren't that tight. Funny thing, the vast majority of them say right on the dispatch sheet its over an 11 hour drive. Extra time is built in with the dispatch software they use.

For example: 640 mile run and says 12.35 driving hours. Funny thing, the return trip says 12.45 hours.

Since I've never yet accepted one of the loads I don't know what they really expect on dispatch. I can only go by what's on the load board postings and we all know how much those can be wrong in many different ways. I'm trying to figure out if I have enough room to pull a 53' box which I assume all have 36" kingpin settings. With a 3 door headache rack my trailer now only has 1 1/2" clearance in a turn and that is with a 30" kingpin. My 5th wheel can only slide back another 4" and it is centered between the axles now. I have to be careful loading so I don't get too much weight on the drives, I cannot slide forward to transfer onto the steers else I cannot make some turns. The only thing I didn't check when I bought this truck was wheelbase, and got a suprise when I discovered it is 6" shorter than my old truck. My mistake and I have to live with it now. I thought with a weedburner exhaust I'd gain a couple inches of clearance with the headache rack. Turns out i ended up right where I was before. So, to do UPS I may need to get the 5th wheel mounting moved rearward, even for pups, to ensure sufficient clearance. Not sure if it is worth the hassle.

guess you never heard the song "Prisoner of the Highway" by Ronnie Milsap? That must have been his inspiration!

I like my coffee but don't care for the smell of saturated carpets from spilled coffee.
