I agree, I would love to have the train that ran near this property still be running from Toledo to Ann Arbor with the station that used to be three city blocks from my driveway that would take my wife and kids to u of m where the other station for this line was at. but the tracks and the stations are all gone since 1963 and there is us 23 a couple miles away that replaced it.

Interesting, I did not know that little tidbit.

The PA turnpike was partly graded for a railroad once upon a time that did not really materialize.

We have a dual track main in our county, a old Missouri Pacific Line established around 1838 or so which is not too far from when the South Carolina Charlestown railroad and the first one B&O was built in Baltimore to try and take freight from the canal traffic and connect Ohio with the seaport as a goal.

Jackson in the Civil War who captured Harpers Ferry through which the B&O rolled complained carefully about night traffic then morning traffic then dinner traffic and noise. Eventually the B&O Super had his entire day and night traffic compressed between 11 and 1 PM in the mid day. Jackson then blocked the tracks at Point of Rocks and Martinsburg at the same time with calvary and cannon, capturing hundreds of rolling stock and dozens of locomotives, all of which were shipped south overland via Strasburg VA. Many of the burned bridges are still visible in the river to this day as is confederate artillery grafitti carved into the rocks above maryland heights from 1863, I climbed that once with a friend and discovered that from the old artillery positions up there. Brunswick was the largest yard in world war two, about 8 miles long. Defended heavily by anti aircraft at that time.

The current owners, Union Pacific roll freight through night and day, they permit Amtrack's Texas Eagle trains 21 and 22 to use it roughly every 12 hours to Chicago from Little Rock. Track speed is 79 for pass and 80 for freight. Once in a while the big trucks destroy the crossing gates and it's fixed in a hour when you contact the UP over the net about it. They are that good.

Was driving down the big road, broad daylight, perfect weather not a cloud in the sky. Oversized and heavy. The truckers going the other way told me about a fatality on my side and how to get around it. Crap. Tried calling the state to get the permit amended and could not. Pulled off the road and waited until they opened. Still daylight. Went past quite a few trucks sitting on the sides of the road. You guessed it, they ran out of hours. In broad daylight. Sitting on the sides of the highway as traffic shot by at 75+mph.

The elogs are meant to be the brains for the Braindeads, to level the playing field. But for some reason, it doesn’t seem to be working out that way. And with the new “safety” ***STUPID*** devices in cars and trucks, the next generation of American motorist will be able to get on the road with ZERO brain activity. And Braindeads stacking up on the sides of the roads...

    The carnage will be spectacular.

And you guys that were forced by BigBrother to rub elbows and play nice with the Braindeads, smile every time you see a fatal accident. In the next 5 years, there’s going to be such a shortage of drivers with brains, they will have to fork money out NFL style to find drivers. Keep your skills up and hit em hard in the pockets. It will be a true driver’s market.

You guys who needed elogs to be competitive, you will never be competitive.

Let's be real... even a level one inspection rarely nets even a cursory glance at an elog.

I've had 3 level one inspections in the last year and one since I started running paper logs. My logs have never been checked until I was on paper. One of them I was an hour over on my 14 due to shipper antics in Tulsa. Giant red exclamation mark. He asked for my logs and I pointed at the Qualcomm. That was the end of the log issue right there.

Hauling dry bulk now, over axle almost every time I cross a scale. Paper logs? Show me your log book. Every time.

And I used to drive 3 full hours off duty every day, with a load of without one. Trailer or no. #### near 20 hours a week. Nobody ever said ####.

Elogs aren't the problem. The HOS rules are. The only issue I have had with paper is I fudged 3 minutes on my 14 when I went out of state and had to revert to federal HOS standards.

I have gone over my 14 only 6 times on 20 months with my current carrier. You may not like it, but e logs are here next month. I can defend them or not defend them. It makes no difference regarding the outcome.
